Senior Full-Stack PHP Web Developer

We are looking for a passionate Senior Full-Stack PHP Web Developer to join our Engineering team and report to the Head of Engineering. The successful applicant will work on new applications that will be launched in 2024 and provide expertise and support for clients' migration from legacy systems to new ones.

The team works in sprints, using modern workflow management software, and the work is a mix of enhancements/fixes for existing software and the development of new solutions. Work requests come from different client-facing teams within the business to solve a current client need and from within the business where innovation is a core value. Prioritisation and allocation of time are done collaboratively within the management team, with the Head of Engineering working directly with the company owners. This ensures that team members are heard and that we are working toward a common goal, with any concerns being aired and resolved.

The role will involve both front-end and back-end development.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Essential:

• Excellent command of English - you will work with English-speaking colleagues daily.
• 5 or more years' experience as a Full-Stack PHP Web Developer.
• HTML, CSS, and JavaScript: Proficient in writing clean, semantic HTML, modular CSS (preferably with a preprocessor like SASS), and modern JavaScript.
• PHP: Solid understanding and practical experience with PHP, including working with MVC frameworks (e.g., Laravel and/or Zend).
• Frameworks and Libraries: Strong experience with front-end frameworks/libraries such as [protected info], jQuery and Bootstrap.
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, Microsoft SQL)
• Experience with RESTful APIs and web services.
• Version Control: Proficient in using Git for version control and collaboration.
• Responsive Design: Experience with responsive and adaptive design principles, ensuring cross-browser compatibility and mobile-friendly interfaces.

Desirable:

• Build Tools: Experience with build tools and task runners such as Grunt.
• Performance Optimisation: Knowledge of techniques for optimising web performance (e.g., lazy loading, minimising render-blocking resources).
• SEO Best Practices: Understanding of SEO principles and how to implement them in front-end development.
• Agile Methodologies: Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Docker: Experience with containerisation using Docker to ensure applications run consistently across different environments.
