Roles
The Accounting Section Manager leads the Accounting Department to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with applicable regulations, effective internal controls, sound costing management, and efficient accounting operations. The role drives process improvements, develops team capabilities, and ensures effective utilization of SAP and related systems.
Career Development
Expected to perform Chief Accountant-level responsibilities, with formal Chief Accountant appointment to follow when appropriate.
Team Management & Leadership
- Manage and allocate workloads within the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks
- Monitor team performance, provide coaching and guidance to improve capability and efficiency
- Review and approve key accounting transactions, reports and reconciliations
- Build a collaborative and accountable working environment within the team.
Accounting Operations
- Oversee daily accounting operations including GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Inventory and Tax
- Ensure accounting records are accurate, complete and compliant with company policies and regulations
- Monitor month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing activities
- Review and ensure timely preparation of financial statements and group reporting packages
- Analyze financial results and highlight key issues or risks to management
Costing & Inventory Control
- Manage costing activities to ensure accurate product costing and inventory valuation
- Review costing reports and analyze significant cost variances
- Work closely with Production, Supply Chain and
Purchasing teams to improve cost control and inventory accuracy.
Tax & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations and statutory requirements.
- Review tax filings, tax finalization and statutory reports.
- Coordinate with auditors, tax authorities and external parties when required.
- Identify compliance risks and implement necessary improvements.
SAP & Process Improvement
- Act as SAP key user for accounting functions and support related projects and continuous improvements.
- Perform other duties and special assignments as requested by Management
