Mô tả công việc
Cognita Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff, volunteers, and other third parties to share this commitment. Position Objective:
The role of the Technical Assistant is to oversee the operational and strategic management of the AV systems, theater, film equipment/green screen room, black box, and theater changing rooms, including events, functions, performances, assemblies, and activities. This includes setting up and taking down equipment, and managing equipment checkout for curricular classes and events for Theatre, Film, and Broadcasting, as well as working alongside staff and students to support secondary events.
Working closely with the Arts department and other teaching staff, the Technical Assistant will support curriculum delivery. They will coordinate events and provide technical expertise and support to help ensure the theater, black box, green screen room, and film room are exciting and vibrant spaces for audiences and student artists. The Technical assistant is also responsible for training teaching staff and coaching students on how to use technical equipment and designated spaces, enabling teaching staff and students (with supervision) to use the theater independently within their programs.
Working across the secondary school includes the set up and support for assemblies or events which require AV. These include but are not limited to assemblies, grade level events, house events, SET and student led events.
Inherent in the position is the ability to undertake physical work requiring bending, and lifting of heavy equipment. These physical demands are representative of the position and are essential in order to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Responsibilities:
Specific Duties
The duties and responsibilities of the Technical Assistant position include but are not limited to:
1. Curriculum support
• The Technical Assistant is responsible for the following:
• Work collaboratively with teachers and other teaching assistants as required.
• Supporting the practical aspects of the Theatre and Film courses throughout the School.
• Contributing to the smooth running of the Department and furthering its excellent reputation.
2. Management and Coordination of Theater and Film spaces and Equipment Management
2.1 School use/functions:
• Coordinate the availability of the Auditorium and rooms for school events, functions, performances, and productions, in consultation with key school personnel.
• Develop and maintain a booking calendar and schedule theater and film spaces
• Provide onsite management of all auditorium and film space use
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of regulations relating to the Film and Theatre Spaces including copyright and licensing (including merchandising), child protection, and workplace health and safety requirements.
3. Technical Support
• Implement, operate, and manage the technical systems for the Theatre and Film, including audio, visual and lighting, film, and broadcasting equipment.
• Provide expertise and assistance to the school staff and students, in the use of film and theater equipment and technical systems.
• Oversee the development and training of student teams to assist with stage/set management, film and broadcasting, and the operation of audio, visual, and lighting equipment for school events.
• Support and assist teachers who use the theater and film facilities for training purposes by providing any training necessary to enable teachers to use the spaces independently as part of their teaching program.
• Provide a hands-on approach, advice, and support in the acquisition, manufacture, and development of props.
• Manage checkout and collection of film and theater equipment for curricular and event use. Tracking and taking action as necessary for any late or damaged equipment returns.
4. Financial
• Track costs and expenditures for Theater and Film for both curricular and co-curricular purposes
• Source and order resources and equipment as required
5. Information Management and Record Keeping
• Maintain reliable and accurate electronic and paper-based records.
• Maintain an accurate inventory and replacement cycle of equipment for film and theater
6. Maintenance
• In consultation with the relevant staff, oversee the maintenance of theater, film, and broadcast equipment maintenance on the campus.
Occupational: Child Protection Health and Safety
• Undertake and apply Child Protection and Occupational Safety and Health practices in the workplace to ensure the safety of self and others.
• Undertake professional development and training relative to the appointment.
7. AV Specific
• Provide feedback, research, and recommend AV best practices within the school.
• Vendor management, arrange for repairs, manage and implement new AV projects.
• Communicate, plan, set up and operate light and sound systems, projectors & computer systems for events on campus that require AV
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and support teachers with AV including projectors
• Maintain and update AV inventory records and conduct regular audits.
• Assist and teach teaching staff to use AV resources when required
• Maintain the integrity, security, and availability of AV systems.
• Assist with the evaluation and procurement of AV equipment & software
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Oversee the iLearn space including connecting projectors/ video calls through Skype/ I-learn room when required.
