About the team
We build and run the backend platform behind Vietcap's trading products: order placement, customer and account management, margin lending, and real-time market data.
Our services sit on the critical path of money movement and live market feeds. We integrate with the core trading system and with exchange data feeds, we care about correctness under load, and we run a large fleet of microservices on Kubernetes with end-to-end tracing so we can explain what happened in production instead of guessing.
You will own services end-to-end - design, build, ship, and operate them - with real ownership of a business domain rather than isolated tickets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot, with attention to performance, correctness, and reliability.
- Own one or more services end-to-end: write low-level design (sequence diagrams, DB schema), implement it, ship it, and operate it.
- Break down requirements into tasks, estimate them, and raise progress and risks early.
- Design and build REST and gRPC APIs, and integrate with internal services and third-party systems.
- Write unit and integration tests as part of delivery, not as an afterthought.
- Investigate and fix bugs, including production issues, using logs, metrics, and traces.
- Instrument your services so that failures are diagnosable, and use dashboards and traces to investigate incidents.
- Work with product, QC, mobile, web, and DevOps to deliver features and system improvements.
- Daily hands-on use of AI coding assistants or agents in real delivery work, not occasional experiments.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2-5 years of hands-on experience with Java (Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, JPA).
- Strong understanding of OOP, data structures, design patterns, and problem solving.
- Experience designing and building RESTful/JSON APIs, and working in a microservices architecture.
- Solid RDBMS skills (PostgreSQL or Oracle): schema design, indexing, query tuning, transactions, and schema migration tooling.
- Working experience with event-driven systems and message brokers (Kafka or equivalent).
- Experience writing automated tests (JUnit, Mockito, integration tests) and a habit of keeping them green.
- Comfortable with Git-based workflows, code review, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum: sprint planning, estimation, and incremental delivery.
- Practical understanding of containers and Kubernetes: how your service is built, deployed, configured, and rolled back.
- Able to read technical documentation and specifications in English.
- Writes clearly - design notes, API contracts, and MR descriptions a teammate can act on without a meeting.
Working with AI:
We use AI coding agents as part of normal delivery, not as a side experiment. We expect you to use them well and to stay accountable for what ships.
- Daily hands-on use of AI coding assistants or agents in real delivery work, not occasional experiments.
- Able to give an agent enough context to be useful: clear task framing, the relevant code and constraints, and acceptance criteria the output can be checked against.
- Reviews AI-generated code with the same rigour as a teammate's. You own what you merge and can explain every line of it.
- Knows when not to reach for AI - tasks where a plausible-but-wrong answer is expensive, and where checking the source directly is faster than prompting.
- Handles data responsibly when using AI tools: no customer data, credentials, or production secrets go into external services.
Nice to have:
- Experience in Trading, Financial Services, or Banking domains.
- Experience with gRPC and Protocol Buffers.
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB) and caching strategies with Redis.
- Experience with identity and access management (Keycloak, OAuth2, OIDC).
- Experience with observability tooling (OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus, distributed tracing).
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS).
- Experience operating systems with high throughput or strict latency requirements
