Business Data Analyst
Summary
In today's data-driven world, the ability to transform data into actionable insights quickly is essential for success. The main responsibility of the Business Data Analyst is to use your strong business analysis skills, along with your knowledge, experience, and competencies in data analytics, to discover the hidden potential within data. By working effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization and translating complex data, you empower business units to make data-driven decisions and foster a collaborative environment built on shared data insights. Your work creates a competitive advantage for the organization and directly contributes to our transformation into a data-driven powerhouse.
Primary Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business problems and translate them into clear and actionable data requirements.
- Develop a comprehensive data sourcing strategy by identifying relevant data sources, acquisition methods, and collection schedules.
- Clean, prepare, and organize data in a way that ensures its accuracy, integrity, and quality.
- Analyze data to identify trends, and patterns, and obtain key business insights.
- Recommend data-driven solutions that are aligned with business goals and technically feasible.
- Champion best practices for data governance, ensuring data quality and consistency throughout the organization.
- Advance and shape the company's data strategy.
- Identify opportunities to improve data processes and tools.
- Communicate complex business needs to technical teams and simplify technical solutions for business stakeholders.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and promote new solutions adoption.
- Stay informed about the latest trends, best practices, and technologies for data analysis and business intelligence.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Working knowledge of SQL, Excel, and Python
- Working knowledge of data standards, principles, and best practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and requirements elicitation skills
- Committed to continuous learning
- Capable of working with minimal supervision, takes initiative, and is committed to seeing tasks through from start to finish
Education, Certifications, and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Finance, Commerce, Computer Science, Information Technology, Analytics, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or data science
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in business analysis, data analysis, data modeling, or a related field
- Business Analysis experience in a bank or financial service company
- Understands financial and business data
- Experience with business intelligence and data visualization tools (PowerBI, Amazon Quicksight, etc.)
- Working knowledge of data architectures
- Working knowledge of data model design patterns, business intelligence tools, and analytics tools
- Proficient in data modeling tools and techniques (ERD, UML, dimensional modeling, data vault, etc.)
- Understands different modeling notations (UML, ORM, etc.) and data schemas (JSON, XSD, XML)
