BlueSky Education is scaling from a Singapore-headquartered international education company into a category-defining, tech-enabled education platform across Asia-Pacific. We're looking for a CFO to build the financial backbone this next chapter demands, and to lead the company's overall capital strategy as we grow - and to help us tell that story to investors and partners who will hold us to a very high bar.
About BlueSky EducationBSE is a Singapore-headquartered international education company operating study tours, summer camps, all-year-round (AYR) weekend programmes, international student mobility, and test preparation across Asia-Pacific and beyond, with offices in Singapore, Australia, China, Korea, India, LATAM, the Philippines, and Vietnam. We hold Singapore Tourism Board licensing and Australia Ministry of Education accreditation, and partner with leading universities across the UK, Australia, and Singapore.
We're on a long-term growth trajectory, with an eventual IPO ambition - Hong Kong and the US are both under consideration as listing jurisdictions. This role is based in our Hanoi office and reports directly to our Chairwoman and Founder.
About the RoleTwelve months from now, this person will have built a finance function investors and partners trust at first glance: clean, audit-ready reporting; modern financial controls with technology and AI woven into core processes; a well-managed funding stack spanning equity, bank facilities, and other financing options; a defensible, well-modelled path from our current tour-operator economics toward a credible tech-enabled platform valuation; a resolved Hong Kong tax structure with an advance ruling in hand; and a capital position that supports the company's next stage of growth.
This is a hands-on, builder's CFO role - not a steady-state finance leadership seat. The CFO will hire and lead a new Group Accountant based in Hanoi, and will build out the wider finance team over time.
What You'll Do• Own overall capital sourcing strategy end-to-end - equity, bank loans, credit facilities, and other non-equity funding options - as part of a holistic capital strategy, including leading any equity raise process when one is undertaken (financial model iteration, data room, investor materials, due diligence).
Own cash flow management and planning across the group - rolling cash flow forecasts, working capital discipline, and funding runway visibility across a fast-growing, multi-currency, multi-entity operation.
Improve financial control processes across the business, including driving the adoption of technology and AI tools to modernise reporting, close cycles, and controls - moving BSE from manual, spreadsheet-driven processes toward a more automated finance function.
Build out financial infrastructure and reporting from the ground up - multi-entity consolidation across Singapore, Australia, China, Korea, India, LATAM, the Philippines, and Vietnam, board-ready reporting cadence, and internal controls that will withstand institutional diligence.
Lead the Hong Kong holding company tax and legal structuring, including resolving the pending IRD advance ruling on the offshore profits tax position, working directly with external tax advisors.
Partner on the EdTech repositioning narrative - translate the shift from B2B tour-operator economics toward a tech-enabled platform model into a valuation story that will withstand investor scrutiny, without overclaiming.
Run financial planning and analysis across BSE's business lines - study tours, domestic camps/AYR programmes, mobility, and test prep - including margin analysis on the DMC-to-owned-staff transition and country-by-country unit economics for the four-wave roll-out.
Hire the Group Accountant - a new position based in Hanoi, taking over the accounting function currently handled in Singapore as BSE relocates its core finance team to Hanoi. You will own the recruitment end to end; the Group Accountant will be your direct report, and you will build out the wider finance team's capability as the business scales across markets.
Design and implement the global employee incentive framework (HK holdco ESOP), including jurisdiction-specific instruments such as phantom equity plans for China.
Own the HR and people function group-wide - including payroll oversight, employment contracts and compliance across jurisdictions, and staff administration - with ESOP design and rollout as a core part of this remit.
What We're Looking For - Required• 8+ years in senior finance leadership, with direct experience sourcing capital (equity and/or debt) at a startup or scale-up.
Broad financing experience beyond equity - you've arranged bank loans, credit facilities, or other debt/alternative funding, and can manage a mixed capital stack, not just a single instrument or round.
Track record of improving financial control processes and driving adoption of finance technology or AI tools to modernise reporting and reduce manual work.
Experience building financial infrastructure from a lean baseline - you've stood up reporting, controls, and a finance team, not just managed an existing one.
Working knowledge of Hong Kong and/or Singapore corporate and tax structures, including cross-border and holding company considerations.
Comfort operating across multiple entities, currencies, and jurisdictions in Asia-Pacific, and recruiting and leading a finance team that includes a direct-report Group Accountant.
Strong financial modelling skills and fluency presenting to sophisticated investors and financing partners - you can anticipate how a rigorous analyst will stress-test a model.
Willingness to work as a hands-on operator alongside a founder who is closely involved in financial strategy and detail.
Advanced English language proficiency, both written and spoken - you'll be presenting to investors, partners, and leadership.
Preferred• Experience in education, EdTech, travel, or another services business transitioning toward a platform/recurring-revenue model.
Hands-on experience implementing AI-enabled finance tools (e.g. automated reconciliation, AI-assisted forecasting/reporting, close automation).
Prior exposure to Hong Kong IRD advance ruling processes or offshore profits tax exemption structures.
Experience designing ESOP or equity incentive frameworks across multiple jurisdictions, including China phantom equity plans.
CPA, CFA, or equivalent professional qualification; public accounting or investment banking background.
Experience with company IPO preparation, particularly Hong Kong or US listings.
Candidates with M&A or fundraising transaction experience will have an advantage.
