Job Purpose
This role is part of the D&T department of HEINEKEN International. D&T is proud to bring cutting-edge innovation, strong technology, and advanced analytics to HEINEKEN. With speed and agility, we ensure HEINEKEN has the technological competitive advantages it needs to deliver on its ambition.
The role in as part of the APAC Data & Analytics Hub, is the highest expertise and thought leader in Analytics and AI in all Heineken Asia Pacific, is critical in Heineken to operationalise our strategy of standardised and scalable data solutions across the region and enterprise, uplift Heineken Asia Pacific Data & Analytics capability, and maturity.
- Team Leadership and Mentorship: Lead a team of data scientists providing guidance and mentorship to ensure high-quality work and continuous professional development.
- Stakeholder Communication: Work closely with other departments such as marketing, finance, and operations to ensure that data insights are effectively integrated into business strategies. They act as a bridge between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex data insights into actionable business strategies.
- Operationalizing Strategy: The role is critical in operationalizing HEINEKEN's strategy of standardized and scalable advance analytics, machine learning, AI, GenAI solutions across the region and enterprise. This ensures that data practices are consistent and efficient throughout the company. Overseeing data science projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and meet business objectives.
- Research & Development: Drive the R&D activities of the Advanced Analytics organization by identifying and developing new analytics opportunities. The role stays updated with the latest advancements in data science and technology, ensuring that the company remains at the forefront of innovation.
- Delivering Business Value: It is essential that the role holder delivers analytical solutions that are both theoretically sound and create immediate business value. This involves building strong relationships and collaborating with members of the broader HEINEKEN data organization, including Insight Enablement, Data Management, and Global Analytics.
- Functional Partnerships: The role involves partnering with a growing group of data professionals such as Data Engineers, Machine Learning Engineers, and Product Managers who play a crucial role in the development and delivery of analytics products at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Define and implement the data science strategy aligned with the company's overall vision and regional goals.
- Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of data scientists, ensuring high performance and professional growth.
- Data-Driven Insights to Deliver Business Value: Provide critical business insights through advanced analytics, driving value creation and informed decision-making. Deliver AA prototype products (pilots) in identified high value areas, and scale to deliver value. Manage portfolio of Advance Analytics prototype products (pilots) to identify next high value product for HEINEKEN.
- Project Oversight: Manage data science projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives. Guide data scientists to develop predictive models and only standardised value-measurement techniques (e.g. running A/B testing) to solve complex business problems, such as forecasting timeseries, churn prediction. Collaborate with PMO to coordinate scrums and ensure others have defined scope and clear objectives).
- Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to integrate data insights into various business strategies, enhancing overall efficiency.
- Innovation and R&D: Drive research and development activities to identify and develop new analytics opportunities.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as a liaison between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex data into actionable strategies.
- Governance and Standardization: Ensure governance and standardization of data technologies, platforms, and solutions across the region. Apply MLOps best practices to ensure the reliability and robustness of data science solutions.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest advancements in data science and technology to maintain a competitive edge for Data Science chapter of Heineken Asia Pacific. Continued self-development and research of best-in-class analytical approached; management and/or development and capability building of Junior/Senior Data Scientists.
- Partnership Development: Build and maintain relationships with external data and analytics partners to enhance capabilities and drive innovation.
Qualifications
Education:
- Advanced Degree: PhD or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
Experience:
- Extensive Experience: Minimum of 10 years in data science, with at least 7 years in a leadership role.
- Industry Knowledge: Proven experience in the FMCG sector or a related industry.
Technical Skills:
- Advanced Analytics: Proficiency in machine learning, statistical modelling, and data mining techniques. Knowledge of industry trends and demonstrated commitment to stay up to date on new technologies.
- Programming Languages: Expertise in Python, R, SQL, and other relevant programming languages.
- Big Data Technologies: Experience with big data platforms such as Hadoop, Spark, and cloud services like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Data Visualization: Strong skills in data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
Leadership & Management:
- Team Leadership: Proven ability to lead and mentor a diverse team of data scientists and analysts.
- Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic and analytical thinking skills to drive data-driven decision-making.
- Project Management: Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Soft Skills:
- Communication: Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
