Join the dynamic team at the dual branded Hyatt Place Hyatt House LAX/Century Blvd. Our 400 room hotel is located less than a mile from LAX Airport and less than four miles from SoFi Stadium, you are in the heart of it at all at Hyatt Place Hyatt House LAX/Century Blvd.
Job Summary
The Human Resources Director is responsible for staffing qualified personnel, ensuring team member statute compliance; overseeing all aspects of wage, benefits, worker's compensation unemployment; training program direction, implementation and administration; and team member relation with coaching, counseling and discipline, payroll. Member of Executive Committee.
Position Responsibilities and Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
College degree preferred, and/or equivalent work experience.
Five years of Human Resources experience required, preferably in the hospitality or similar industry.
Certification and/or License Requirement: Certified Human Resources Executive Preferred.
Knowledge of governmental employment laws.
Valid state driver's license from applicable state and MVR in good standing.
Physical Demands:
Long hours sometimes required, including nights and weekends.
Light Work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Ability to move about the property while conducting tours or meeting with other hotel departments.
Required Competencies
Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly, both oral and written.
Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations.
Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
Must be effective at listening to, understanding and clarifying concerns and issues raised by team members and guests.
Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from disparate sources and consider adjust or modify to meet the constraints of a particular need.
Must be able to prioritize departmental functions to meet due dates and deadlines.
Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic function.
Responsibilities may include any and all of the following:
Approach all encounters with guests and team members in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
Regular attendance is in compliance with Prism standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes proper dress and correct nametag when working.
Comply at all times with Prism standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
Must, at all times, be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers, and other team members.
Responsibilities cont'd:
Manage the recruitment of qualified applicants for hotel open positions and ensure that hiring standards are followed (i.e. Behavioral interviewing, ratings sheet, reference checks, team interviews).
Conduct new team member orientation to familiarize employees with RCMI philosophies and Culture, and other employee service programs; ensure the accurate completion of new hire paperwork.
Coordinate the administration of compensation and benefit programs to include wage and benefit surveys, benefits enrollment and communication, personnel action forms, and payroll changes.
Assist with the development and implementation of specialized incentive/recognition programs for line level team members; make recommendations to GM and home office human resources department.
Develop, support and administer an effective employee relations program to include employee coaching & counseling process, employee recognition programs, and Performance Management process; ensure a positive and supportive work environment.
Serve as liaison between hotel and community to foster positive community public relations.
Implement training and development programs for team members, coordinate internal and external training programs; monitor the effectiveness of training.
Communicate, interpret and implement human resources policies and procedures; ensure consistency in application and compliance with government laws and regulations (i.e. OSHA, EEOC, wage and hour, etc.).
Oversee maintenance of accurate and up-to-date team member files.
Oversee the processing of appropriate worker's compensation, work related injury and unemployment claims to ensure proper completion of required paperwork; monitor costs, participate in safety committee to help minimize potential liabilities.
Hire, train, and provide career development for all team members; conduct one on ones, performance evaluations and provide feedback for team
members.
Knowledge of all Human Resources/team member regulations and laws, and ensure that the property is in compliance.
Recommend and/or approve all team member transitions, i.e. new hire, transfer, promotion, etc.
Communicate new policies, information and directives to all team members; instruct staff in interpretation of all HR policies and procedures.
Monitor and analyze turnover statistics. Implement processes as necessary to reduce turnover.
Update and submit required reports in a timely manner.
Participate in and monitor safety committee in compliance with Loss Prevention policies.
Assists in development of managers and supervisors for future advancement.
Ensure managers are using coaching, counseling and discipline correctly to address issues and concerns.
Perform other duties as requested by management.
Attend or conduct all training/meetings as required by management.
