Fire protection electrician is employed to provide electrical services with specific responsibility for inspection, installation, repairment and/or replacement fire alarm systems, sprinkler system and related equipment; The Electrical Technician is responsible for carrying out first line maintenance of Fire Alarm Systems, Water based Fire Fighting System associated equipment and utilities safely, with minimal environmental impact in accordance with legislation and Company procedures and ensuring that tools and materials are available as needed.
Fire protection technician has to ensure that all HSE procedures to be followed during work. Any defects to be checked and report to the engineer.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Be familiar with the facility's process plants safe operation and maintenance and must understand safety requirements, including work permit systems, operational and emergency procedures, Company policy and instructions;
Perform inspection on Fire Protection Systems including Fire Alarm system, Emergency & Exit lightings, Control Panels, battery system, wirings and cables;
Carry out first line maintenance and repair work, replacement, shutdowns, isolations and planned maintenance. Maintenance may include, but is not limited to, diagnosing problems, replacing or repairing parts, detecting and replacing defective wiring and electrical equipment and components. Tests electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance;
Troubleshoots fire alarm systems and their components for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventive maintenance;
Installs electrical system components as assigned (e.g. panels, audible/visual alarms, pull stations, detectors, electrical wiring, switch boxes, conduits etc.) for the purpose of providing upgraded system capabilities;
Maintains assigned tools and test equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability of equipment in the workplace;
Complete the checklist and daily record after completion of each work;
To supervise outsourcing works of Suppliers/Contractors.
Participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars, as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
Take part in Plant Emergency Response Team as per assigned role;
Immediately report the abnormal condition of equipment or deviation of operating parameter to engineer or C&F supervisor;
Perform other duties as requested by Fire Protection Engineer or Manager;
Co-operation with members of other teams to support maintenance or other tasks as assigned;
Ability to work overtime as needed;
