Financial Controller / Head Of Finance

1. Role Objective
The Financial Controller will lead the financial strategy, systems, and governance of Wide Eyed Tours & Travel across Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand.
This role is responsible for building and managing a robust, multi-country financial management framework that supports a fast-growing Destination Management Company (DMC), ensuring:
● Strategic decisions are formulated with financial insights
● Stable liquidity across all operating entities
● Strong cash flow visibility across multiple currencies (VND, THB, USD, AUD, NZD, EUR)
● Effective financial risk control (FX exposure, supplier payments, client receipts)
● Full compliance with tax and company laws in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand
● Scalable systems to support growth, new markets, and new product verticals
The role will also advise the Management on financial strategy, including expansion, partnerships, and structural optimisation of the group.
2. Summary Key Responsibilities
● Advise Management on financial strategy, risk, and business growth
● Manage cash flow planning and forecasting across multiple countries
● Oversee multi-currency operations (VND, THB, USD, AUD, NZD, EUR) and FX exposure
● Prepare monthly management reports and financial analysis
● Deliver insights on profitability by country, product, and partner
● Ensure compliance with tax and company laws in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand
● Manage relationships with banks and oversee international fund flows
● Develop and improve financial systems, controls, and reporting structures
● Partner with Sales and Operations to align revenue, costs, and margins
3. Responsibilities in Detail
a) Financial Modelling & Commercial Analysis
● Develop and maintain financial models tailored to the travel industry, including revenue & GP forecasting, tour profitability models and cashflow forecasting by destination.
● Analyse key performance indicators - GP by country/product & contribution by agent/partner.
● Support pricing strategy by providing insight into margin optimisation & cost fluctuations.
b) Strategic Financial Leadership
● Advise Management on capital allocation across countries, banking strategy and financial structure.
● Support expansion into new markets and destinations
● Provide financial input into contracts with agents & suppliers, specifically with risk management (force majeure, cancellations, pricing volatility)
c) Banking, Payments & International Financial Operations
● Manage relationships with banks across multiple jurisdictions
● Oversee international fund flows & optimise payment channels, FX conversion & transaction costs.
d) Financial Reporting & Management Information
● Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts & country performance reports.
● Deliver clear insights to Management on profitability by country and business line, variances v. budget & financial risks and opportunities.
● Develop and maintain management dashboards, including Sales v. GP performance, Cashflow outlook and cost centre tracking.
e) Compliance, Tax & Financial Governance
● Ensure full compliance with Tax regulations in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand and local accounting standards and company law
● Oversee VAT, corporate tax, and withholding tax requirements, cross-border transactions and transfer pricing considerations
● Manage audits and relationships with local accountants, tax advisors and regulatory authorities
● Implement and enforce internal controls, fraud prevention measures and financial policies and procedures
f) Systems & Process Development
● Build and standardise financial systems across all offices, including cost centre framework by country, department and product.
● Improve integration between Operations, Sales, and Finance and accuracy and timeliness of financial data
● Support implementation and optimisation of accounting systems, CRM / operational systems linked to finance and eporting tools and dashboards
