JOB SUMMARY
The Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) is a hands-on, business-facing builder who sits at the intersection of AI and the agency business. Rather than building software in isolation, the FDE is embedded directly with the teams of Square Group's member companies - event, activation, production and digital communication - to understand how work is really done, identify where AI can create measurable value, and rapidly design, build and deploy AI-powered solutions (agents, automated workflows, integrations and internal tools) into daily operations. The role holder combines the skills of an engineer, a solution consultant and a project lead: translating business pain points into working prototypes within days, taking proven solutions to production, driving user adoption, and turning successful one-off solutions into reusable assets for the whole Group. Prior experience in an agency / marcom environment is a significant advantage, as the FDE must speak the language of account, creative, production and finance teams as fluently as the language of code and data.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Embed with Agency Teams & Discover Use Cases
Work side-by-side with account, creative, production, finance and back-office teams of member companies to map workflows and identify high-impact AI opportunities;
Define problem statements, success metrics and expected ROI with business owners, and prioritize the use-case backlog.
2. Build & Deploy AI Solutions
Rapidly prototype with LLMs, AI agents, automation/low-code tools and custom code, then turn validated prototypes into reliable production solutions;
Integrate AI into the tools teams already use (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365,finance/project systems) with human-in-the-loop approval for sensitive outputs.
3. Data & Integration
Structure and connect agency knowledge and data (rate cards, quotations, case studies, supplier lists, SOPs) via APIs, connectors and scripts, ensuring data confidentiality.
4. Governance & Security
Work closely with Group IT to ensure every solution complies with the Group information security policy and personal data protection regulations (access control, data classification, approved tools);
Document each production solution and agree on clear ownership and maintenance arrangements before handover, avoiding unmanaged "shadow IT" tools.
5. Adoption & Enablement
Onboard and train users, build AI champions in each agency, and communicate results clearly to management and staff.
6. Measurement & Productization
Track the impact of each deployment against agreed KPIs and turn proven solutions into reusable assets for the whole Group;
Indicative KPIs include: number of use cases taken to production per quarter, working hours saved, user adoption rate, and number of AI champions trained per member company.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
1. Must-have
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data/Business Analytics, Marketing/Communications or equivalent practical experience;
Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a hands-on technical role (software/full-stack, data, automation, AI or solution engineering), OR in a business/ operations role with a proven track record of building automation and AI solutions;
Proven portfolio of AI/automation solutions that were actually deployed and used by real users (please share links, demos or case studies);
Hands-on experience with LLMs and AI agents (prompting, tool calling), Python or JavaScript, APIs and at least one automation platform (n8n, Make, Apps Script or similar);
Good data skills (spreadsheets, SQL, data structuring) and working knowledge of Google Workspace / Microsoft 365;
Consulting mindset and strong stakeholder management: able to turn business processes into clear solutions and present ROI convincingly to C-level in a fast-paced agency environment;
Ownership, speed and curiosity about AI; high integrity and confidentiality; fluent Vietnamese and good English.
2. Nice-to-have
Experience working in an agency - Marcom, event, activation, production or digital communication - (in-house or client-facing); understanding of the agency workflow (brief - pitch - quotation - production - execution - recap - billing, finance and back-office operations) is highly valued;
Experience with RAG, MCP, vector databases or AI agents running in production;
Experience training end users and driving adoption of new tools or processes.
