The International Trade Compliance Specialist will support the processes and procedures established to ensure department compliance with international regulations. This position will focus on ensuring compliance with international regulations concerning product classification, tariff determinations, and trade program eligibility.
Tariff Classification: Determine correct Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) numbers for products, ensuring compliance with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) guidelines within deadlines.
Trade Program Eligibility: Determine whether or not product is eligible for any special trade programs such as Generalized System of Preference (GSP) or Free Trade Agreements (FTA). Determine if product is subject to special trade requirements such as Antidumping Duty (ADD), Countervailing Cuty (CVD) or visa/quota restrictions.
Monitoring Compliance: Keep abreast of changes in trade programs and regulations, updating systems and ensuring product compliance, while escalating issues to management when necessary.
Country Approval Requests: Process requests and update internal systems according to guidelines.
Database Maintenance: Update and manage the classification database with accurate product information and documentation.
Classification Review Preparation: Prepare items for classification review, ensuring justifications are ready for presentation.
Classification Change Process: Conduct changes in classification following established procedures.
Collaboration with Teams: Work with various internal teams to provide tariff and duty estimates for new products, aiding in cost assessments.
Internal Communication: Liaise with internal teams and external vendors to address classification issues, following established guidelines for resolution.
Binding Ruling Requests: Research and prepare formal requests to CBP for classification confirmation, updating systems with the outcomes.
Support Customs Entry Team: Aid in responding to CBP inquiries and providing necessary classification information.
International Correspondence Maintenance: Manage international documentation per U.S. customs regulations.
Data Collection and Reporting: Update information per team objectives and generate reports for analysis and recommendations.
Standard Operating Procedure Maintenance: Help maintain and recommend changes to Standard Operating Procedures for the classification team.
Process Improvement: Identify and assist in implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency.
Regulation Compliance Updates: Stay informed on Customs regulations and communicate findings to management.

Experience:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Compulsory: Good English (4 skills)
· Basic understanding of U.S. Customs regulations and compliance requirements;
· Strong understanding and interpretation of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS);
· Ability to gain a basic understanding of supply chain systems/management;
· Strong attention to detail;
· Document management systems;
· Ability to analyze, research, and assess international trade regulations;
· Exhibits a high level of integrity and maintains confidentiality.
