Functional/technical skills
• HTTP APIs:
- Able to read RAML & Open API specs
- Able to see braking chages
- Able to implement specifocation (including status codes, etc)
• Maven:
- Has a clear understanding of build life cycle and how to customize it through plugins and profiles
- Knows how to structure their project based on modules, which scopes to applies to dependency, how to avoid dependencies conflicts
• Security considerations (TBR):
- Solves the issues found with the tools we have at Backbase (veracode/blackduck)
- Is aware of the OWASP top 10 and are applying the use cases presented there
• Version Control Systems: Is completely familiar with the api, follows the development model best practices (like how to create branches, open PR, commits)
• Code refactoring:
- Knows that refactoring their code improves readability and reduces complexity and tries to follow the standards we have set at Backbase
- Has an exposure to the most common design patterns and you try to apply them in your code
• SDLC: Is aware of the different phases that conduct a Software Development Live Cycle
• Business requirements:
- Understands business requirements and knows how to create work around it to complete them
- Is able to recognize any open points or blockers and raises them within the team
• Non functional requirements: Makes sure that every user story that finishes does not degrade the overall system and knows how to work with the tools that are in place to measure this
• Estimations: Capable of providing accurate and reliable estimations of requirements
• Software testing: Able to apply best practices and able to apply them in tests so that to have reasonable code coverage and stable tests
• Documentation: Helps write documentation for components they have created
• Web Application Servers: Knows how to configure major application servers
• Agile development / Scrum:
- Understands the Scrum process and contributes to the process as good as possible during the sprints
- Understands all the roles the process holds
- Knows what to expect from them and communicates actively with them
- Participates in all the common ceremonies
• Product Development (R&D specific): Knows the domain language and all the features of the capabilities team owns, knows how it is used by customers
• Product Implementation (CS specific):
- Capable of working on project tasks independently without supervision
- Able to work within embedded teams
- Capable of providing accurate and reliable estimations of requirements
- Willing to travel and interact with the customer
- Able to analyse and troubleshoot Backbase product customer issues
• Technical Skills:
- Knows how to technically solve complex problems
- Is generally pretty good at making working software
- Has basic skills in debugging software
- Is competent in all or some stages of the systems development life cycle - analysis, design, development and testing, implementation, documentation, and evaluation
- Demonstrates the initiative and method for solving different problems, and propose effective solutions for those problems
- Sets up a development environment on their own, and has the ability to mentor a team of junior developers
- Performs tasks for several activities at the same time
- Revises software code to make it more efficient and be able to detect bugs in the code
