What We're Looking For
We are seeking an experienced General Manager to run the Institute's day-to-day operations - finance, human resources, and administration - so our research teams can focus on delivering high-quality, impactful work. Based at our office in Hanoi, reporting to the Institute Director.
Key Responsibilities
Line manager: Institute Director
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the Institute, including finance, human resources, administration, IT, and office management
- Lead budget planning, financial monitoring, and reporting; carry out bookkeeping, invoicing, and expense management with the finance/accounting team
- Carry out HR functions, including recruitment and onboarding, employment contracts, performance management, and payroll and benefits administration, in compliance with Vietnamese labor law
- Support project teams with administrative and financial procedures throughout the project lifecycle, including contracting, procurement, and subcontracting
- Develop and maintain internal systems, policies, and procedures (financial controls, HR policies, office administration) to strengthen organizational efficiency
- Manage relationships with vendors, landlords, and service providers; oversee office facilities and procurement
- Support the Institute Director on strategic planning, Board/donor reporting, and organizational development
- Supervise administrative and support staff
- Other duties as assigned by the Institute Director
Who You Are
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in operations, office/business management, or finance/HR management
- Working knowledge of Vietnamese labor and tax regulations
- Strong financial management and budgeting skills
- Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills
- Strong leadership and people-management skills
- Excellent written and spoken communication in English and Vietnamese
- Proficiency in office/accounting software
- High integrity, attention to detail, and ability to handle confidential information
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working in a research institute, think tank, or academic/development organization is a plus
