About Thryve Vietnam
Combining the execution speed of Rocket Internet with the operational excellence of Bending Spoons, Thryve Vietnam builds, acquires, and invests in SMEs with proven product-market fit, scaling them through operational excellence and data-driven growth.
Our ambition is to become Vietnam's leading venture-building and permanent-capital platform.
About the Role
We are looking for a Junior Web Developer (internally referred to as New Venture Engineer) to work alongside our Tech Lead and help ship technology and websites across Thryve's portfolio of businesses. We care far less about how many years you've clocked in a formal job and far more about what you've already built on your own: the side projects, the half-finished experiments, the things you taught yourself because you were curious enough to try.
At Thryve, a new website for a new business goes live every two weeks. You will be in the room for that entire sprint: writing real code, shipping real features, and learning the speed and discipline of building fast directly from the person who owns it. This is a launchpad role. It rewards raw ability and hustle over polish, and it is designed to fast-track someone with real potential into a much bigger seat.
What You'll Work With
You do not need to know all of this on day one. You do need to pick it up fast.
Frontend:
[protected info], TypeScript, Tailwind CSS
Backend:
[protected info], MySQL
Content and infra:
CMS, Vercel, domains, analytics
AI-assisted development:
Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, v0
Shared platform:
our internal "ship kit" of templates, components, and reusable building blocks (auth, payments, CRM) that every new venture plugs into
What You'll Do
1. Build and Ship, Alongside the Tech Lead
Contribute directly to the build cycle for new venture websites and digital products, from first commit to launch.
Take ownership of discrete features and components, with the Tech Lead as your guide, not your gatekeeper.
Help maintain and improve the shared ship kit so future launches move even faster.
Support uptime, performance, and bug fixes across live portfolio websites.
2. Play With AI, On Purpose
Use AI-assisted coding tools daily as a real part of how you build, not as a novelty.
Bring your own experiments and half-baked ideas to the table. Some of the best workflows here started as someone's weekend tinkering.
Throw new AI tools at real Thryve problems and report back honestly on what worked and what didn't.
Learn where AI-generated code still needs a human looking at it, especially anything touching customer data, payments, or security.
3. Learn the Foundation
Get hands-on with the shared technical foundation (hosting, domains, analytics, tooling) that every venture plugs into.
Absorb the lightweight engineering standards that keep us moving fast without breaking things.
Build real judgment on when to build, when to buy, and when to let AI generate it, by doing it under real deadlines.
4.
See How Decisions Actually Get
Made
Sit in on conversations with founders and leads across the portfolio.
Learn to translate technical work into plain language for non-technical stakeholders.
Soak up Thryve's build fast, think weird, ship anyway approach to technology from day one.
What Success Looks Like
Month 3:
you ship a complete feature to production on your own, with review.
Month 6:
you own a meaningful part of the ship kit, and other people's launches are faster because of your work.
Month 12:
you lead the frontend build for a new venture, end to end.
How We'll Support You
This is a junior role and we treat it like one. Daily code review, regular pair programming with the Tech Lead, a weekly 1:1. You get real responsibility early. You do not get left alone with it.
What We're Looking For
1. Proof of Tinkering
Has built things on your own time: side projects, hackathon entries, open-source contributions, a weird personal app nobody asked for. We want to see what you make when no one is grading you.
Comfortable showing unfinished or imperfect work if it proves you can actually build.
2. AI-Curious by Instinct
Already experimenting with AI-assisted coding tools, even informally, and genuinely excited about where this is going.
Treats AI as something to poke at and break, not just a tool to follow instructions on.
3. Unconventional by Design
Is not a conventional "techy." Thryve is quirky, and this person should be too: curious, a little irreverent, allergic to bureaucracy.
Comfortable asking questions in a room full of more experienced people, and genuinely wants to be challenged.
4. Grit & Coachability
Operates with urgency and a bias toward action, even without all the answers yet.
Takes direct feedback well and turns it into visibly better work fast.
Preferred Qualifications
0-1 years of formal work experience. What matters far more is a track record of self-directed projects and experiments.
A strong academic record from a top university is a plus. Most of the team fits this mold, but it is not a strict requirement if your work speaks for itself.
Working familiarity with modern web stacks (e.g. [protected info], React), even from personal projects or coursework.
Some hands-on use of AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, v0, or equivalents).
A portfolio, GitHub, or even a messy folder of things you've built that you're willing to walk us through.
Vietnamese and English fluency preferred.

How to Apply
Email your CV to
[protected info]
with the subject line
"Junior Web Developer - [Your Name]".
Include a link to something you have built, however small or unfinished. If the code is private or the project never shipped, three sentences will do: what you were building, what broke, and how you dealt with it. That tells us more than a polished demo.
No cover letter needed.
