The Packaging Production Manager is accountable for the results of every packaging production
line (cans, pails, boxes and ends) across our factories: output, delivery, quality, cost and safety.
This is a hands-on role: you will spend most of your time on the lines with your team.
1. Daily Production Operations
- Run production to plan, so that every production order and delivery is on time.
- Work with the Printing, Supply Chain and Warehouse departments so that materials, printed sheets and semi-finished goods reach the lines in the right quantity, to specification and on time.
- Keep the lines running: work with the Technical department on breakdowns, maintenance and line improvements, and own the downtime result.
- Build production data for every line that is accurate, on time and trusted: daily records, visual dashboards, and regular reviews that end in action.
2. Productivity & Waste Elimination
- Set, track and deliver output, OEE, scrap and changeover targets for every packaging line, and review performance with the team every week.
- Control scrap and material loss, tinplate usage above all; trace every loss to its root cause and remove it.
- Standardize operating procedures (SOPs) for every process step, make sure they are followed on the line, and improve line layout to cut wasted motion.
- Lead improvement projects whose savings are measured in money.
3. Labor & Labor Cost
- Set headcount and deploy labor flexibly by skill and order demand
- Manage working hours and overtime within the norms and approved budget, and manage labor cost per unit of output.
4. Quality
- Make sure every line's output meets specification at the process step, before it moves on or ships.
- Lead root-cause analysis and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) on customer complaints and internal non-conformances raised on the lines, and make sure each one is closed and does not recur.
- Work with the Quality department on outgoing inspection and on handling defective goods.
5. Safety & 5S
- Keep every line safe, with occupational safety, fire safety and production discipline enforced.
- Maintain 5S and keep the production area ready for customer and certification audits at any time.
6. Team Development
- Give every supervisor and team leader clear authority and clear KPIs, and review their performance regularly.
- Build the team at every level: develop workers into team leaders and team leaders into supervisors, and hire from outside where a role needs it. Whichever route you take, every key position must have a development and succession plan that is carried out, reviewed regularly, and followed by action.
- Raise the share of multi-skilled workers.
- Build a culture of production discipline, accountability and continuous improvement.
Yêu cầu
- Alongside the priorities you agree with us, we expect to see:
- Production data from every packaging line that is accurate, trusted and used to make decisions.
- Measurable cost savings from lower scrap, material loss, downtime and overtime.
- Higher OEE and productivity, and shorter changeovers, on packaging lines against an agreed baseline.
- Fewer customer complaints. Internal non-conformances keep being reported, and are closed more thoroughly and promptly, with their root causes removed.
- Team leaders and supervisors who run their lines on their own, with development and succession plans carried out and reviewed on a regular rhythm.
- Bachelor's degree or above, preferably in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Packaging Technology or Business Administration.
- Over 7 years of management experience in manufacturing. Experience running metal packaging, printing, food or packaging production lines is an advantage.
- Used to manage the production department with over 100 employees.
- A hands-on, decisive leader who is at home on the shop floor, with a proven record of building teams and developing team leaders and supervisors.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, TPM, OEE, or other continuous improvement methodologies is an advantage.
- Knowledge of procedures, ISO 9001: 2015, ISO 22000: 2018, FSSC 22000, HACCP - Skill in planning, controlling and monitoring work.
- Works well across departments and can handle several priorities at once.
- Communication, negotiation, persuasion and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to make presentations, and reports, withstand high pressure at work.
- Ability to organize training - training.
- Detail-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint; experience with production management systems and data analysis tools is an advantage.
- Able to use English effectively in the workplace, especially for communication, reading technical documents, emails and reports.
- Willing to travel between sites (mainly Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City).
