JD Plant Controller/ Finance Controller
Reports To: Sr Director of FP&A
Dotted line: Plant Manager and APAC Controller
POSITION SUMMARY: The Plant Controller is responsible for leading the end-to-end accounting and financial control operations of the organization, with a strong emphasis on manufacturing finance, inventory control, costing accuracy, and regulatory compliance. This role ensures that all financial transactions are properly recorded, reported, and compliant with applicable accounting standards and local regulations, while providing strategic financial partnership to factory operations.
This leader typically brings extensive experience from senior accounting, audit, or manufacturing finance roles and plays a key role in shaping and executing the company's accounting and financial governance strategy.
This role ensures that all financial transactions are properly recorded, reported, and compliant with applicable accounting standards and local regulations, while providing strategic financial partnership to factory operations.-functional leaders, this role aligns financial oversight with operational performance, cost efficiency, and sustainable growth.
Responsibilities:
Financial Control, Compliance & Reporting
Establish and maintain an effective accounting control framework in compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and Vietnamese regulations.
Ensure accurate and timely financial, statutory, and management reporting.
Oversee inventory accounting, COGS, and manufacturing costing while maintaining data integrity across production,
purchasing, and logistics.
Identify and mitigate financial, tax, cash flow, and compliance risks.
Budgeting, Cash Flow & Cost Management
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management to optimize working capital and control costs.
Monitor variances and provide financial insights to support operational and strategic decision-making.
Manufacturing & Cross-Functional Partnership
Act as a finance business partner to the Plant Manager, aligning financial controls with operational performance.
Collaborate with Purchasing, Logistics, and Production to ensure accurate costing, inventory control, and process efficiency.
Support operational improvements and investment decisions through financial analysis.
Tax, Audit & External Stakeholder Management
Serve as the key finance contact for auditors, tax authorities, and consulting partners.
Coordinate tax-related matters including transactions, VAT, Corporate Income Tax (CIT), and Transfer Pricing documentation in collaboration with global tax teams.
Systems, Processes & Controls
Work with ERP partners (including SAP) to ensure accurate financial data and reporting.
Strengthen accounting processes, internal controls, and support banking setup for new sites if required.
People Leadership
Lead, coach, and develop the finance team while ensuring adherence to company policies and compliance standards.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
10+ years of experience as Chief Accountant, Plant Controller, or senior finance leader, preferably in manufacturing or foreign-invested companies.
Strong experience in manufacturing finance, including costing, inventory control, and operational finance.
Proven experience working with auditors, tax authorities, and consulting firms.
Experience collaborating with Purchasing, Logistics, and Production teams.
Professional proficiency in both Vietnamese and English (written and spoken).
Strong knowledge of Vietnamese accounting, tax regulations, Corporate Income Tax, and Transfer Pricing basics.
Experience SAP (FICO and MM models) and strong Excel skills.
Knowledge of investment law is an advantage, "Experience with Decree 152 (Foreign Labor) or Investment Registration Certificate (IRC) compliance"
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
