THE ROLE
The Project Manager is responsible the management of major capital projects from inception to completion, and in addition to support other campus infrastructure development programs of the University in order to maintain a high standard of facilities within buildings at RMIT Vietnam. The Project Manager will be responsible for feasibility reports and recommendations, concept design and schematic design, construction management, effective management of external service providers, consultants, internal and external stakeholders, tender negotiation phase of projects, and effective budget monitoring and costing.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Effective delivery and project management of major capital works projects ensuring all stages of the projects are appropriately resourced, budgeted, tracked and reported within agreed timeframes.
- Contract administration in adherence with RMIT Vietnam legal framework.
- Feasibility reports, schematic design and design development stages of the project for presentation to various stakeholders and committees.
- Concept design, safety assessment and review and interpretation of technical specifications and documentation.
- Manage, monitor and report on project costings throughout project lifecycle.
- Develop strong stakeholder relationships to fully identify the scope of projects and maintain continued stakeholder commitment and confidence throughout the project lifecycle.
- Proactively identify risks and implement contingencies to mitigate risks by maintaining a risk register.
- Manage the efficient and cost-effective completion of assigned projects using RMIT's internal Project Management Process during formulation, design, construction and commissioning phases.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
- Undergraduate qualification in a technical related subject such as Architecture, Civil Engineering, Design or Project/ Construction Management.
- At least five years of experience and a proven track record in successfully delivering large scale and complex infrastructure projects from inception to completion within a commercial environment.
- Experience in conducting feasibility studies, concept design, detailed design, construction management and supervision of works.
- Ability to manage, influence and motivate internal project team, consultants and external contractors and service providers.
- Experience in coordinating and implementing strategic projects by utilizing effective management principles of planning, resource allocation, communication, formalized documentation, implementation, negotiation, evaluation and reporting.
- Ability to deliver projects within project timeframes ensuring quality and cost deliverables are also met.
- Experience in monitoring and managing project cost and budgets.
- Sound understanding of capital expenditure and accounting principles with ability to interpret financial information to present in a clear and concise manner.
- Proven ability to analyze complex problems, identify critical issues and develop strategies for delivering solutions.
- Comprehensive knowledge of property management and regulatory requirements in the building industry (including local and International Building standard, OH&S standard and regulation).
Desirable
- Relevant project management qualification such as Prince2, MSP or P3O highly desirable.
- Experience with Green Building Standards and implementation of sustainability initiatives within programs.
- Membership of a relevant professional institute.
