QA/QC Inspector

Job Purpose: JFE Engineering Corp. has a long history of financial strength, award-winning building quality, and unwavering commitment to client satisfaction in Chemical Plant Construction. We're seeking a FIELD QA/QC Inspector, who can put his or her expertise to work on Petrochemical Project Construction site. This professional will be responsible for overseeing multiple projects at once and serving as the representative at each work site in dealings with subcontractors, suppliers, customers, and government inspectors. He or she will be expected to ensure compliance with all federal and state procedures, regulations, and codes, and present progress updates to appropriate management channels on a regular basis. With each project, this individual is counted on to drive the innovation we're known for.
Major tasks:
• To ensure the quality and implementation of the Quality Management System of the project, communicate, negotiate, and coordinate with each discipline of the project, vendors, sub-contractors, NDT sub-contractor, third-party inspection organization and QA/QC team of the client.
• Review and verify material certificates (MTC), test reports, and compliance with project specs.
• Inspect fabrication, welding, tank work, piping work, and installation works on-site and in workshops.
• Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to ITPs, drawings, Project specification, codes (e.g., ASME, API).
• Witness and record all required quality control checks and tests (fit-up, welding, pressure-test, etc.).
• Coordinate inspections with clients, consultants, and subcontractor (RFI handling).
• Prepare and maintain QC documents: inspection reports, checklists, NCRs, test records.
• Raise non-conformance reports (NCR) and follow up corrective/preventive actions. Report to QCM/ CM and notice to relevant parties.
• Available to join Painting work, ensure proper surface preparation, coating application, and DFT checks for painted items.
• Verify piping systems: material traceability, line checking, punch listing, and reinstatement.
• Ensure all quality activities are aligned with ISO 9001 and project QMS.
Responsibilities
• Conduct daily inspections on welding, fabrication, piping, painting, and installation.
• Verify that work activities comply with drawings, ITPs, and project specifications.
• Conduct fit-up and welding inspections (WPS, welder ID, preheat, interpass temperature).
• Check material identification and traceability before installation.
• Coordinate and witness quality control tests (e.g., NDT, holiday test, pressure-test).
• Fill out and maintain daily QC checklists and inspection reports.
• Attend inspection as the NFI form subcontractor. Coordinate with PE to send NFI for client.
• Communicate non-conformities, issue NCRs if needed, and follow up with site team.
• Take site photos as visual evidence and attach them to reports or dossiers. Manage and record photos as QC's evidence.
• Ensure safety and cleanliness in areas under QC scope.
• Compile and update QC documentation: inspection records, test reports and checklists.
• Review subcontractor QC reports and documentation for consistency.
• Track and update welding, NDT, coating, and pressure-test status progress.
• Follow up on open NCR, punch lists, and corrective actions.
• Assist QA/QC Manager in preparing monthly quality summary status for CM, PM.
• Support preparation of QC dossiers for mechanical completion or system handover.
• Review calibration status of inspection tools and request re-calibration if needed.
• Verify that all inspections and tests are documented and signed-off according to ITP.
• Provide feedback or recommendations to improve quality performance on-site.
