Responsibilities
Individual and Group Counseling:
* Conduct individual and group counseling sessions with Secondary students (especially Vietnamese-speaking students who prefer to communicate sensitive conversations in their native language) to address academic, social, emotional, and family concerns.
* Utilize individual and group counseling techniques to support students in managing stress, anxiety, bullying, peer relationships, and family challenges.
* Collaborate with the Counseling Team, Teachers, Family Engagement, Student Support staff, and other school personnel to develop and implement interventions that meet the specific needs of each individual student.
* Provide short-term and solutions-focused counseling support to help all students find their best path to social, emotional, and academic success.
Academic Support:
* Work with students in collaboration with Student Support staff to develop effective study skills and strategies for academic success.
* Collaborate with teachers to identify and address academic challenges faced by students.
* Advocate for and promote equitable access to academic resources for all students.
Cultural Connection and Advocacy:
* Serve as a resource for teachers and staff on the cultural backgrounds and experiences of Vietnamese students.
* Develop and implement programs and initiatives that celebrate Vietnamese culture and promote cultural understanding within the school community.
* Partner with Vietnamese families and community organizations in conjunction with the Counseling Team and Family Engagement Team to ensure seamless support for students and families.
Collaboration and Communication:
* Maintain regular communication with internal teams & families and keep them informed about their child's progress and needs.
* Collaborate effectively with teachers, administrators, and other school personnel to create a comprehensive support system for Vietnamese students.
* Attend and actively participate in relevant professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in school counseling and culturally responsive support.
Yêu cầu
• Master's degree or Degree in School Counseling or a related field, with a focus on secondary education or multicultural counseling.
• Fluency in Vietnamese (written and spoken), with a deep understanding of Vietnamese culture and traditions.
• Experience working with secondary school students in a school setting.
• Strong individual and group counseling skills, along with experience in crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Culturally competent and demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
• Adaptability, flexibility, and a commitment to continuous learning.
