Job Summary:
The Merchandiser in the Garment Export Business will be responsible for managing the sourcing, development, production, and timely delivery of apparel to overseas clients. This individual will collaborate with production teams, suppliers, and clients to ensure product specifications, quality standards, and delivery schedules are met. The role requires strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Client Interaction & Order Management:
Act as the primary point of contact for clients, understanding their requirements and ensuring smooth communication throughout the production process.
Receive and process orders, ensuring accurate documentation and production timelines are communicated to relevant stakeholders.
Monitor and follow up on sample approval processes, keeping the client updated on progress.
2. Product Sourcing & Development:
Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to source raw materials such as fabric, trims, and accessories required for garment production.
Oversee the sampling process and ensure that garment samples meet customer requirements, including specifications, colors, and sizes.
Work with
designers and production teams to create new collections or modify existing designs based on market trends and client needs.
3. Production Management:
Oversee and monitor the production process to ensure that garments are being made according to client specifications, quality standards, and timelines.
Ensure timely and accurate production planning, including material sourcing, production scheduling, and labor allocation.
Conduct regular inspections of factories to ensure compliance with international labor and environmental standards.
4. Quality Control & Assurance:
Collaborate with the quality control team to conduct inspections during various stages of production to ensure the final product meets the required standards.
Resolve any quality issues with suppliers or factories and ensure timely rework or adjustments are made.
5. Logistics & Shipping Coordination:
Work closely with the logistics team to ensure timely shipment of finished goods to international clients.
Prepare export documentation, including invoices, packing lists, and shipping labels, to facilitate smooth customs clearance.
Coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping agents, and clearing agents to manage the transportation and delivery of goods.
6. Cost Management & Negotiation:
Assist in negotiating prices and payment terms with suppliers and clients to ensure profitability for the company.
Manage costs associated with production, shipping, and logistics to maintain profitability while offering competitive pricing to clients.
7. Market Research & Trend Analysis:
Stay updated on global garment market trends, fashion innovations, and competitor activities.
Provide feedback to the design and production teams on market demands, trends, and customer preferences.
• Requires a Bachelor's Degree.
• 5+ year of production experience, in fashion or textile industry
• Basic import/export knowledge.
• Excellent communication and organization skills required.
• Ability to multi task, meet deadlines and work under pressure; strong leadership and time management skills
• Strong Excel skills; Knowledge of Blue Cherry a plus
