Job Description
The Senior Pattern Maker will play a key technical role within our product development and sample room team and will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, fit, construction and technical feasibility of our garments.
Main responsibilities include:
Work closely with
designers,
merchandisers and the sample room team throughout the product development process, from first prototype through SMS and PPS.
Create patterns from tech packs, design sketches, measurement charts, reference garments or customer requirements.
Modify and perfect existing patterns according to fitting comments and development feedback.
Ensure high standards of garment fit, balance, proportion, comfort and construction.
Participate actively in fitting sessions and identify pattern, fit and construction issues.
Analyse fitting comments and translate them into accurate pattern corrections.
Check garment measurements and pattern accuracy before samples are sent to customers.
Work directly with sample makers and provide clear technical and sewing instructions.
Follow sample development closely and check garments during the making process when necessary, rather than waiting until the sample is completed.
Identify technical or construction problems at an early stage and propose practical solutions.
Work with the design team to ensure technical solutions respect the original design intention.
Advise designers and merchandisers on construction, fit and technical feasibility when required.
Create and apply grading rules according to approved measurement charts.
Ensure patterns take into account the characteristics and behaviour of different fabrics, including woven and knitted materials.
Calculate and validate fabric consumption and support marker optimization when required.
Support the technical review of samples developed by our partner factories when required.
Compare factory samples against approved patterns, tech packs, measurements and fit requirements when necessary.
Proactively communicate with the design, merchandising, sample room and QA/QC teams to resolve technical issues without delaying development.
Maintain a clear, accurate and well-organized digital pattern library.
Ensure patterns, grading and technical information are properly identified and stored for future use.
