THE ROLE
Designs complex mechanical parts and assemblies and owns the mechanical solution for assigned products or modules. Acts as a technical expert in design, materials and manufacturing feasibility, solving difficult technical problems. Mentors Engineers and Junior Engineers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
▪ Develop mechanical concepts and architectures for complex products or assemblies from product requirements
▪ Design complex plastic and metal parts and assemblies, including detailed 3D models and 2D drawings with GD&T
▪ Perform tolerance stack-up analyses and engineering calculations; initiate simulations where needed
▪ Select materials and manufacturing processes, balancing performance, cost and manufacturability
▪ Lead the mechanical work package within projects, including effort estimation and technical planning
▪ Work with toolmakers and suppliers on part feasibility, tooling design reviews and sample evaluation
▪ Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues from testing, production or the field and implement root-cause solutions
▪ Define mechanical verification requirements together with the Laboratory and analyze test results
▪ Lead DFMEA and DFM/DFA reviews for assigned designs
▪ Review designs and drawings prepared by other engineers
