Job Overview In this role, as a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will be focusing on enhancing and scaling up the manufacturing quality processes. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in integrating quality measures, facilitating the scale-up of mechanisms, and consolidating quality data across various projects to identify areas for further improvement and ensure the highest quality standards of production.
Responsibilities include conducting early Design for Quality and Manufacturability reviews from a quality, automation, and manufacturing standpoint, with a particular focus on mechanical parts and device assembling and key commodities such as mechanical and electronic mechanical parts. This position requires close collaboration with the Asia suppliers, internal Engineering and Operation teams to evaluate issues and provide practical solutions to problems from materials, design, and process.
The Supplier Quality Engineer will be instrumental in driving the standardization and consistency of quality mechanisms across key component suppliers. This includes overseeing data mining activities, analyzing results, and leveraging these insights to offer recommendations, conclusions, and actionable solutions for continuous improvement. On the scope, the role will focus on sustaining projects and need to own new projects as well if needed.
Job Description
Program orientation/ Execution performance:
To complete SQE assigned quality problem solving task(s) and always bring results which exceed expectation.
Present the quality problem solving progress and results to Customer SQM on time.
Issue handling:
Experienced in picking right tool/method in understanding, identifying the issue with proactive practice, solutions can address issue from system level.
Can use any quality tools to support problem solving and data collection.
Supplier audit: All assigned work done with high quality:
Effective OBA and no defects escaped to FATP.
Effective PCA (process audit), follow all issues via PCA finding report until closed. Drive process/system improvement.
Problem is identified and action plan is figured out for improvement.
The results such as Yield, Cpk are on positive trend with specific efforts.
Other assignments like monitoring ORT, collecting tooling life etc. can also be done effectively.
Soft skills:
Communication: Active communication skills, initiate working with others and coming with good coordination. Communicate with Customer SQM and Suppliers effectively without understanding gaps.
Result delivery:
Quality problems can be solved before the deadline.
Root cause found logically with clear data and evidence.
Push supplier to do improvements for supplier audit findings and close these findings on time.
Reporting:
Work report is provided on time with accurate and complete information.
Supplier audit reports with analyzed data and evidence clearly.
Reports are always prepared and sent to Customer SQM in advance or on time.
Can use quality tools to do analysis and data collection.
Ownership: Proactively working with suppliers, take active actions to find risks for continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or above with Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another STEM field.
6-10 years of working experience of consumer electronics devices at component level and device level. Focus on the quality engineering, process engineering, or a related field.
Experience with mechanical parts manufacture process including plastic injection, painting, assembly, surface treatment process and related quality management experience.
Experience with metal parts manufacture process including stamping, die-casting, CNC, Anodizing and CTQ (Critical to Quality) process with quality control method.
Good knowledge of manufacturing processes of mechanical or electronic mechanical parts (For example: power adaptor)
Knowledge of defects judgement/identification and quality process improvement.
Direct experience in supplier quality management.
Good command of Chinese and English, ability to communicate in Chinese is an advantage.
Familiar with the DFM (Design for Manufacture), NUDD and PFMEA review
Good knowledge and hands on applying NPI quality phase review, PPAP, Statistics data analysis.
