1. Role Summary
The Technical Designer ensures that buyer requirements are accurately translated into production-ready garments.
They manage fit, measurement, and construction details from development through bulk production.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Tech Pack & Development
Review buyer tech packs and clarify missing information.
Prepare internal tech packs for pattern and sample teams.
Update documents during proto → fit → PP → TOP stages.
B. Sample & Fit Management
Measure and review proto, fit, PP, and TOP samples.
Hold internal fit sessions and provide clear correction comments.
Communicate buyer fit comments internally and ensure accurate pattern updates.
C. Pattern & Construction Support
Work with pattern makers on fit, grading, and construction.
Check garment workmanship and feasibility for production.
Identify risks and provide technical solutions early.
D. Buyer & Internal Communication
Attend buyer fit sessions (online/offline).
Translate buyer comments into actionable internal instructions.
Support
merchandisers with technical explanations and risk alerts.
E. Quality & Production Support
Ensure PP samples match approved standards.
Support QA during pilot and bulk production to resolve technical issues.
Monitor fabric performance and advise adjustments if needed.
1. Required Skills
Strong knowledge of garment construction and fit.
Ability to read/interpret tech packs and specs accurately.
Measurement and pattern knowledge.
Good communication and problem-solving skills.
Experience with CAD or 3D tools (Gerber, Lectra, CLO3D, ETC.) preferred.
2. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Technology, or related field.
1-10 years of experience in garment vendor or factory technical design.
Experience with Target buyers preferred.
Knowledge of textile properties, fabric testing, and quality standards.
