Technical Manager powder sea

To build a team of Powder coatings formulators in delivering a complex portfolio of product development, maintenance and customer support projects. Work with other departments to set agreed priorities and action plans that support the wider business objectives. You will be reporting to Regional Technical Director.
• Lead the Mianlan-based IC Powder Technical team to support business segment growth objectives in the SEA region.
• Manage daily laboratory activities to ensure timely delivery of product color matches, provision of panels and samples for customer approval/trials, supply of accurate formulation costing information to support sales quotations, loading of product formulations into the production system, supervision of new products/colors during manufacturing, ensuring routine maintenance and calibration of lab equipment.
Key Responsibilities
• Work within the PPG operating framework with strict adherence to company EHS, Product Stewardship, Intellectual Property and Ethical policies.
• Manage a team of Technical Team Leaders, Chemists and Technicians.
• Work with manager and other departments to establish an agreed plan of action according to achieving the business strategy.
• Manage a portfolio of projects, prioritize work and align resources to meet the agreed plan.
• Create value through value creation programmes, including formula cost reduction and complexity reduction initiatives.
• Understand customer and end-user needs and practices.
• Monitor competitors' products and their quality through regular benchmarking activity.
• Participate in or lead cross-functional project teams.
• Replicates and leverages technical successes to deliver speed to scale.
• Use appropriate interpersonal styles to gain acceptance of ideas and plans.
• Modifies interpersonal styles to accomplish tasks and objectives.
• Is accountable for product quality and standards.
• Use different information sources, e.g. suppliers, internal expertise and peer group network in seeking best solutions.
• Stay up to date with latest formulation technologies and practices.
• Collaborate with PPG Global Powder Centre of Excellence and other Regional Labs to transfer best practices, communicate emerging SEA market needs and participate in Global product launch activities.
• Work with the Commercial team to ensure successful product trials and launches, inclusive of providing technical support at customers' application lines.
• Coach guides and provides ongoing feedback to facilitate development of subordinates.
