Automation Engineer

REQUIREMENT OF SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES
• Exploring and implementing new ways to automate systems.
• Designing and testing automation equipment and processes
• Programming new automated components
• Identifying quality issues and writing reports
• Eliminating defects and errors with product and software development
• Increasing manufacturing efficiency, quality, and operability through new equipment or software development
• Collaborating with other departments to achieve objectives.
• Responsible for planning, implementing and executing system engineering activities for the Kingspan Insulation group.
• Provide support to the maintenance teams in dealing with plant break downs, which from time to time may include providing assistance 'out of hours' and different sites within the Kingspan group of companies
• To work with different manufacturing sites, engineering teams to install, commission and 'debug' new equipment and to carry out modifications & improvements to existing equipment.
• A key part of the Automation Engineer role is to work with, and train, other engineers to achieve the following:
• The ability to understand the software at a PLC level and a supervisor/PC level.
• The ability to find & rectify faults on the machines and their software, including calibration & zero settings, replacements of key components, namely encoders, brushless motors etc.
• The ability to make changes to the software.
• To ensure project & equipment documentation, including relevant electrical and control drawings are available and kept up to date to reflect any changes made in meeting with the above responsibilities, and to include maintaining records of all relevant control & process parameters and maintaining appropriate back-ups of software & program settings.
• Responsible for ensuring risk assessments, standard procedures, maintenance procedures, plant manuals and documentation are complete, reviewed and in place for all production lines and any other equipment as required by the Engineering Manager. Responsible for maintaining accurate records of all software modifications.
• From time to time the Divisional Automation & Engineer will be expected to provide assistance and support (including commissioning) at other sites within the Kingspan group of companies.
QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
• Minimum of a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office tools including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong skills in all facets of plant operations and maintenance with a strong emphasis on safety and overall equipment effectiveness.
• Strong aptitude with electrical and controls experience.
• Strong communication skills, effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
• Proficiency in maintaining automation equipment.
• Experience with robotics, AI and machine learning.
• Strong preference of Siemens PLC support.
• Experience with project management.
• Solid understanding of computer programming and software development.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment and perform complex system tests.
• Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Creative thinking skills.
