Automation Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY:
Under minimal direction, the Automation / Mechatronic serves as a liaison between New Technology Development and Operations. The Automation / Mechatronic is responsible to lead the design, development and delivery of automatic equipment, integration system to support production strategy and production roadmap. This position facilitates the modernization initiatives with Process Engineering and Manufacturing teams to successfully launch new products, on time and on budget.
This role is a fundamental part of our Manufacturing engineering team located in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. We are looking for a self-motivated individual with proven automation design experience, as well as someone who exhibits the drive for continuous improvement.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Automation Project Management:
o Attend/ promote improvement meetings, work with the Operations Team to develop action plans for new automatic, semi automatic equipment, and scheduling needs
o Coordinate/ drive development plan and follow up actions, including but not limited to Conceptualization, Simulation or Prototyping
o Create/ empower collaborative project communication channels with Product Engineering, Process Engineering, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Quality, Supervision, and floor operators.
o Ensure proper development of Gantt Charts, Project Schedule, Risk Assessment, and Contingency Plans
o Ensure proper agendas to facilitate and document project meetings
o Ensure proper delivery of formal presentations to leadership regarding project status
o Ensure proper management of capital equipment for turn-key applications / custom equipment. Manage cost, timing and budget of each project
• Factory Automation and Technology Development
o Have ability to conduct/ lead research, development, and implementation of new manufacturing technologies, Robotics, or IoT platforms and capital equipment to improve current throughput, scrap/rework reduction, reduce cost, improve quality, reliability and visuality.
o Have ability to work with/ lead the builds of simulation, real prototypes to confirm feasibility as well as fabrication time/cost estimates and test proposed fabrication processes
o Commit to/ drive major strategic cost, quality and delivery initiatives with aggressive focus on breakthrough process and technology improvements to achieve a substantial competitive advantage
o Ensure proper management of equipment certification and run-off, using statistical analysis tools to verify equipment, capability
o Ensure proper development of CAD design of automatic equipment, integration system (to Automatic Hardware and Mechanical Design - Mechatronic Engineering)
o Ensure proper development of PLC, computer-based and cellphone-based program of automatic equipment, integration system (to Automatic Software and Electrics Design - Mechatronic Engineering).
o Assist with/ drive Continuous Improvement Projects in: Kaizen Activities, Visual Management, OEE, etc
o Engage in/ lead in automation and innovation course through technology co-research and development as well as engineering co-test and deployment
• Automation Design Analysis and Continuous Improvement
o Ensure a wide variety of calculations and software aided analysis
o Possess/ empower a systematic as well as creative approach to problem solving process
o Provide/ empower multiple what-if scenarios to find best total cost solution
o Exhibit/ empower vision and foresight to test process extremes and build a robust risk assessment analysis matrix to ensure project success
o Understand/ drive well financial impacts of problem and solution
• Team leading and people development
o Promote Automation/ Mechatronic engineer capabilities through identifying strengths, gaps
and expectation as well as continually devoting in individual development, mentorship
o Understand and promote leadership culture with appreciation of Milwaukee core values
o Assist in/ drive the team's performance to committed KPIs and key objectives
o Assist in operational management and strategic activities, align personnel and team's organizational chart planning to the company's target picture
