Job Description
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Working under the direct supervision of the Senior Technical Officer, the Central Highlands Field Officer is responsible for the design, plan and implementation of project activities in Dak Lak and Lam Dong Provinces that ensure an adequate measure of the project's performance against donor and IUCN performance standards. This includes implementing the project's activities, contributing to the development of respective work plans and budgets to ensure sufficient resourcing for performance and accountability-related.
The Central Highlands Field Officer also supports the Senior Technical Officer in ensuring that project risk management and environmental and social safeguards under the IUCN Enterprise Risk Management Policy and the IUCN Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) are embedded in the design of the intervention and effectively implemented.
As a subject matter expert on agroforestry, the Central Highlands Field Officer provides technical support and capacity development to the project team members and stakeholders on agroforestry system, climate-smart agroforestry models, .
SPECIFIC DUTIES The duties of the Central Highland Field Officer will include but not limited to:
The Position Is Responsible For
Plan and conduct field activities related to the VN-ADAPT project in Dak Lak and Lam Dong provinces, ensuring timely and effective implementation in accordance with project plans and requirements.
Coordinate project activities with local government authorities and relevant stakeholder groups, in close collaboration with the Senior Technical Officer.
Conduct regular monitoring visits and surveys to collect and verify field data in accordance with the project Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) plan.
Lead field data collection and field research activities and provide relevant findings and evidence to inform project implementation, monitoring and reporting.
Prepare high-quality field mission reports, activity reports, meeting minutes, monthly activity progress reports, and other project documentation, and provide timely analytical inputs to support project reporting and donor reporting requirements.
Support and coordinate consultants and technical experts during field assessments, surveys, studies, and other technical assignments.
Coordinate field-level arrangements and implementation of training events, meetings, conferences, seminars, and workshops, ensuring effective participation of relevant stakeholders.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with relevant project stakeholders, including central and provincial government departments, research institutes/organisations, local NGOs, and civil society organisations.
Represent the project at relevant meetings, workshops, and technical working groups at provincial and central levels, as delegated.
Other duties
Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the manager(s).
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Agriculture, or other relevant disciplines. Advanced training or certification in coffee agronomy is an advantage.
At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in project implementation, with demonstrated experience in sustainable agriculture, coffee production systems, agroforestry, climate adaptation, or related fields.
Experience in field-based project implementation, including engagement with coffee farming communities, cooperatives, local agricultural authorities, and relevant stakeholders.
Good understanding of agroforestry systems, sustainable agriculture landscapes, and nature-based solutions, particularly in the Central Highlands context.
Experience in conducting field surveys, interviews, and qualitative and quantitative data collection, including basic data analysis and reporting.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with government agencies, local communities, project partners, and other stakeholders.
Ability to work independently in field conditions, manage multiple tasks, and deliver results under limited supervision.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Experience with digital data collection tools is an advantage.
Working proficiency in spoken and written English.
Willingness to travel extensively within the Central Highlands, including remote field locations.
Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team, with sensitivity to diversity and commitment to collaboration. APPLICATIONS
