Chief Accountant- Urgent

POSITION OBJECTIVES
Assist the Director in order to contribute and improve the success of the Company by managing activity, timely and efficiently the Accounting, Tax and Treasury Management scopes and team. Main areas of responsibility concern compliancy, financial systems mastering and maintenance, tax treasury management and reporting.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Annually, in conjunction with the Directors and Dept. Heads, comply all budgets and forecasts covering all activities of the Company and to maintain all budget control procedures. Prepare cash flow projections, review and sign off all departmental capital budget with the Director
• Annually, appraise the staff establishment for the entire Accounting Department and make recommendations to Directors.
• Appraise on a regular basis system of internal controls and develop and implement further measures if necessary
• Constantly review the utilization of sources and applications of the company's funding with a view to improve liquidity and minimize the indebtness of the company
• In conjunction with the company's auditors, constantly review the company's tax position with a view to proposing methods by which the company can apply properly its tax liabilities and to submit for the approval of the Director/ Management Board a tax plan.
• Ensure all accounting records and financial statements comply with the standards set by the Company and in compliance with the regular Accounting System for Company.
• Receive, safeguard and account for all cash, cheques, bank deposits, account receivable, inventories, advances and investments of the Company.
• Account for all income and receipts of the Company from every source, including income from the sales and services, rents, commissions, deposits, prepayments and other sums received and unearned, collection and accounts, receivable and advances, proceeds from sales of services and supplies, interest and exchange.
• Verify and account for all debts and financial liabilities of the Company.
• Account for all expenditures and disbursement of the Company of whatsoever nature and purpose, including salaries and wages if required, merchandise, supplies and services, taxes and other similar levies, advances and loans, property and equipment, commission, rents, exchange and liabilities incurred by law.
• Comply with the currency exchange regulations in force in the country of operations
• Co-ordinate and maintain the standard system of internal accounting control which will provide the accurate and suitable recording, summarization and reporting of all authorized financial transaction.
• Review all External Auditor's report and submit a report to the Management Board outlining problems and corrective action proposed and taken. Also investigate and amend points raised in Auditor's reports.
• Carry out on a regular basis a random audit of all the Accounting Department with particular reference to cash, cash float and petty cash.
• Provide the accurate and timely preparation and submission of all accounting reports and financial statements.
• In-charge of IFRS report
• Develop, implement and administer credit and collection of policies and procedures.
• Ensure that timely procedures and controls are in, implemented for the Accounting Department and as guidelines for staff within the department.
• Review monthly bank/cash reconciliation statements.
• Ensure all daily work is completed by covering of positions when accounting staff are non-leave or absent.
• Review and approve all journal transactions and supporting documents prior to posting to General Ledger Control by Accountant.
• Review Accounts Payable vouchers/ envelops for accuracy, proper allocation of accounts adequate documentation and approval.
• Verify and approve the Daily Revenue Reports on a daily basis in accordance with prescribed audit procedures.
• Review Daily Cash & Bank Report / TMS report
• Maintain list of all insurances, licenses, permits etc. and schedule of payments to avoid penalty on late payments.
• Establish proper system of storage for all accounting documents including limits of access and confidentiality and other risk preventive measures.
• Maintain good relations with banks to facilitate the handling of such arrangements as drawing overdrafts, placing funds in time deposits and opening letters of credit.
• Be responsible for the day-today administration of the Accounting Department and related activities.
• Other duties as assigned by Management Board/ BOD.
