The Job
Vietmap JSC specializes in providing advanced mapping solutions powered by data science, AI, and machine learning. Our mission is to develop geospatial intelligence that enhances navigation, location analytics, and real-time mapping applications. We are looking for a Data Scientist - Team Lead to manage our data science team and drive innovation in our MAP Custom Solution projects.
Job Overview:
As a Data Scientist - Team Lead, you will oversee the development of data-driven geospatial solutions, manage a team of data analysts and ML engineers, and collaborate with developers and GIS specialists. You will be responsible for designing predictive models, optimizing spatial data processing, and ensuring high-quality analytics for mapping applications.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and Manage the Data Science Team
- Oversee and mentor a team of data scientists, data engineers, and machine learning engineers.
- Set priorities, delegate tasks, and ensure alignment with project goals.
- Provide technical guidance and professional development for team members.
2. Develop Advanced Geospatial Data Models
- Design and implement predictive models for mapping, traffic analysis, and route optimization.
- Work on geospatial machine learning, spatial-temporal data analysis, and clustering techniques.
- Develop algorithms for spatial pattern recognition, land-use classification, and geospatial anomaly detection.
3. Optimize Data Processing and Analytics
- Work with large-scale geospatial datasets, satellite imagery, GPS, and LiDAR data.
- Implement data cleaning, transformation, and feature engineering for spatial datasets.
- Ensure efficient data storage and retrieval using cloud services and databases (PostGIS, BigQuery, AWS, Azure).
4. Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams
- Work with GIS specialists, developers, and business analysts to integrate data science solutions into mapping applications.
- Align data science initiatives with business objectives and client needs.
- Provide data-driven insights and recommendations for decision-making.
5. Manage Data Science Projects and Performance Metrics
- Define project scope, objectives, and timelines for data-driven mapping solutions.
- Monitor KPIs such as model accuracy, processing speed, and data integrity.
- Continuously refine algorithms and models to enhance performance.
6. Stay Updated on Data Science and Geospatial Innovations
- Research and apply cutting-edge AI, machine learning, and big data technologies in the geospatial field.
- Stay current with trends in deep learning, satellite analytics, and real-time spatial processing.
Your Skills and Experience
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data science, including leadership experience managing teams.
- Strong programming skills in Python or R, with expertise in data libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow).
- Experience with GIS and spatial data processing tools (QGIS, PostGIS, ArcGIS).
- Proficiency in cloud computing and big data technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure, Spark).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in geospatial machine learning models.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in satellite imagery analysis and remote sensing.
- Understanding of deep learning models for geospatial applications.
- Familiarity with real-time geospatial data streaming.
