The Job

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer (Java development experience) that will contribute to the national & international development teams to build new products as well as implement third-party software components into the HRS Software Landscape. These new products will help our customers to manage their work-life smart, safe, and in a fully sustainable way - from arranging convenient overnight stays to booking flexible workplaces and making payments on the go, the intelligent mobile companion comprises all essentials needed to make travel hassle-free, rewarding and above all CO2 neutral.

The position is located as an important interface between the needs of customers, external partners and collaborates closely with product management, UX/UI, and other Product Owners within HRS.

• Work with a wide range of systems, processes, and technologies to own and solve problems from end-to-end
• Assisting in maintaining APIs, services, frontends, and systems across HRS' engineering teams:
  • Delivery - how to get web traffic to customers fast
  • Availability - how often/long is the service not available
  • Security - how to lock APIs and harden systems
• Work with engineers across the company to build new features and services at large-scale
• Uphold our high engineering standards and bring consistency to the many codebases and processes you will encounter.

Your Skills and Experience

• Strong backend engineering background with 3+ years of relevant, on-the-job experience
• Enjoyment for being a generalist working on our backend (mostly Java 8), with good knowledge of AWS services (SNS, SQS, Lambda, ECS, etc), and anything it takes to solve problems and delight users
• Knowledge & skills in systems and services and writing high-quality code. We work mostly in Java and [protected info] However, languages can be learned: we care much more about your general engineering skill than knowledge of a particular language or framework
• Expertise in AWS cloud engineering. We are on a journey to a cloud-native, serverless, and DevOps mindset. We need your expertise to set up, maintain and implement continuous build/integration infrastructure in AWS using Gitlab CI pipelines and Terraform
• The ability to thrive in a collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject matter experts
• The ability to put themselves in the shoes of the users and be a steward of crafting great experiences
• Enjoyment in working with a diverse group of people with different expertise
• Skills for upholding best practices in engineering, security, and design
• Fluency in English, spoken and written.
