Description The Employee Relations Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and executing a wide range of activities associated with employee relations, career development, performance management, advocacy and staffing functions. All duties must be performed with the highest degree of confidentiality.
Duties and Responsibilities

Administers the recruitment processes including posting, testing, evaluating, interviewing, conducting reference checks and formalizing recommendations. Directs the development of staffing strategies to include approaches to recruitment and collaborating with supervisors and managers to create staffing plans. Administers the appointment processes and employee orientation.
Develops and builds hiring processes for a variety of levels from temporary staffing to executive placement.
Handles educational institution relations and oversees various sourcing and internship programs.
Manages relocation, onboarding and other responsibilities related to staffing administration.
Manages the performance evaluation process including recommendations for process improvement as well as implementation.
Prepares position descriptions, ensures FLSA classification compliance and oversees job evaluations.
Addresses employee inquiries, facilitates communication among employees and management by providing guidance and consultation regarding problem solving, dispute resolution, regulatory compliance, litigation avoidance and strives to resolve internal conflict informally through appropriate conflict management and mediation techniques. Manages grievance process.
Provides advice and counsel to managers and supervisors regarding personnel practices, policy and employment laws.
Conducts data analysis, determines and recommends appropriate resolutions (from coaching/counseling to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment); and appropriately documents fact findings and recommendations. Assists with developing, recommending, evaluating, training and implementing human capital policies, procedures.
Plans, organizes, coordinates, and implements human capital functions, trainings, activities and initiatives relating to the Judicial Branch of the Virgin Islands.
Recommends the development and initiation of training programs on employee relations and other organizational development initiatives.
Coordinates employee recognition activities and completes special projects as assigned.
Administers various benefit programs including but not limited to Worker's Compensation, insurance, retirement, and any other specialized benefit programs.
Conducts exit interviews, reports, and strategies to address concerns. Streamlines and enhances staffing systems; monitors turnover and performs analysis to increase retention of talent.
Conducts research and remains current on human capital and employee relations legislative and regulatory changes and issues.
Builds and fosters collaborative relationships with other internal and external departments to stay informed and abreast of new initiatives and services.
Participates in developing human capital goals, objectives, and systems.
Attends meetings and trainings as required.
Prepares monthly summary reports and other types of specialized reports.
Other duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Public or Business Administration, Industrial Psychology, or related field and three to five (3-5)A combination of education and experience may be considered at the discretion of the Court.
Position Factors
Strong knowledge of Human Resources field including employee and labor relations.
Thorough knowledge of the Court's personnel policies, procedures, programs and practices.
Knowledge of territorial and federal personnel laws, rules and procedures.
A high degree of creativity, latitude, and decision-making.
Ability to develop and implement personnel practices that are consistent with established policies.
Ability to analyze and resolve personnel management problems.
Ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts effectively.
Skill in the operation of a personal computer, human capital software, modern office methods, techniques and other standard office equipment and applications including any current Microsoft Office software systems.
Ability to plan, organize, direct and evaluate the work of technical staff in a manner conducive to high morale and productivity.
Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing and to translate technical terminology in terms understandable to a diverse group of individuals.
Ability to handle sensitive matters on a confidential basis.
Skilled in working under pressure of deadlines, maintaining a professional demeanor during stressful situations, and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all persons contacted during the course of work.
Must exemplify the desired Court culture and philosophies.
