JOB DESCRIPTION
• Intern will involve into operation process include:
o Operation and maintenance of analytical instruments
o Carry out sample preparation and analysis
o Keep complete and accurate records of laboratory activities
o Protect the integrity of test samples by maintaining a clean and orderly laboratory environment
o Work safely at all times, promptly reporting any safety issues to Lab Supervisor
o Provide support to Lab Sup in the development of new analytical methods
o Conduct projects to support continuous improvement
o Ensure waste materials are discarded in their designated containers
o Ensure hazardous waste containers stay closed except when adding or removing waste
o Ensure satellite accumulation containers stay in their designated locations
• Complete one improvement project of selectable job (Development of a method for determining Zn content in wastewater samples by ICP-OES).
• Upon the completion of this internship, the intern is required to present their accomplishments and project summary to the Lab Sup.
REQUIREMENTS
• No experience is required
• Referral letter from university is required
• Experience in an environment analysis, thermal analysis, and wet chemistry preferred
• Must be pursuing at least a Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering, Analytical Chemistry or related major.
• Final year studying is required.
• Ability to prepare samples, standards, and conduct analyses
• Ability to learn the operation, calibration, and preventative maintenance of metrology equipment
• Skilled in wet and solid sample preparation methodology
• Will handle and use toxic as well as flammable materials
• Intermediate knowledge of standard software (MS Office suite, JMP)
• Ability to use analytical skills to read charts and graphs to find trends
• Good communication skills required
• Ability to multi-task
• Other duties as assigned
