Today, [protected info] supports the operations and management of 12,000+ leading businesses across Vietnam, serving 60+ million pageviews every month.
As we modernize our core platform and build a new generation of products on a microservices architecture, we are looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to strengthen the reliability and scalability of our entire infrastructure.
You will work across our existing monolithic systems and emerging microservices ecosystem, taking ownership of production reliability, cloud infrastructure, observability and automation. Your mission is not simply to keep systems running, but to build the engineering foundations that allow Base to scale, evolve and deliver reliable products to thousands of businesses.
WHAT YOU DO
Base builds business management software (work, HR, attendance, finance and more) used by thousands of Vietnamese companies, running on multiple Kubernetes (GKE) clusters on Google Cloud. We are modernizing our core platform while building a new generation of products on a microservice architecture. You will keep both generations reliable, observable and automated.
- Operate and upgrade our production, staging and dev GKE clusters: node pools, autoscaling, version upgrades, storage, Ingress/Load Balancers.
- Manage infrastructure as code: Helm (upstream charts with our own values), Kustomize, Kubernetes manifests, Terraform for GCP resources.
- Own and extend our GitOps platform: our newer platform already ships through Argo CD + Helm. Mature it (ApplicationSets per environment, sync policies, drift alerts, promotion dev → staging → production through merge requests, secrets via External Secrets), and bring the core platform onto the same workflow to replace manual kubectl/helm changes.
- Own the observability platform: OpenTelemetry (Operator, Collector, auto-instrumentation), OpenObserve, Elasticsearch. Define SLIs/SLOs, meaningful alerts and dashboards; tune trace sampling and storage cost; capacity-plan the observability stack itself.
- Work with developers to run our monolith and microservices in production: runtime tuning, resource requests/limits, probes, safe rollouts and rollbacks.
- Maintain and standardize CI/CD on self-hosted GitLab, Jenkins and Cloud Build; build and maintain shared base images.
- Monitor Cloud SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL) performance: slow queries, connections, replication; run regular backup/restore drills.
- Operate asynchronous infrastructure: Kafka, RabbitMQ, Pub/Sub and queue workers.
- Take part in on-call, lead incident response, write blameless postmortems and follow action items to closure.
- Optimize GCP cost: rightsize workloads, pick fitting node pools (e.g. highmem for memory-heavy workloads), clean up unused resources.
WHO YOU ARE
- 5+ years running production systems on Linux, including 3+ years with production Kubernetes (GKE preferred).
- Fluent with kubectl and Helm; can independently resolve OOMKilled, CrashLoopBackOff, pending pods and in-cluster networking/DNS issues.
- Have run GitOps in production with Argo CD and Helm: repo layout for multiple clusters and environments, sync policies, handling drift and secrets, rollback through Git.
- Hands-on experience with a major cloud, preferably GCP: IAM, VPC, Cloud SQL, GCS, Cloud Logging/Monitoring, Pub/Sub.
- Have run at least one metrics stack (Prometheus or similar) and one logging stack (ELK, Loki, OpenObserve...); understand distributed tracing.
- Strong scripting in Bash plus Python or Go.
- Solid web stack knowledge: HTTP, TLS, DNS, load balancers, reverse proxies; have run web applications in production.
- Basic MySQL or PostgreSQL operations: reading slow query logs, EXPLAIN, backup/restore.
- Have led infrastructure or reliability initiatives end to end and mentored other engineers.
Nice to have
- Deployed OpenTelemetry Collector/Operator, or run OpenObserve, ClickHouse or Elasticsearch at scale.
- eBPF-based observability (Coroot, Grafana Beyla/OBI, Pixie).
- Terraform, Crossplane.
- Took part in a monolith-to-microservices migration, or ran a multi-tenant SaaS.
- Packaged systems to run on-prem for enterprise customers.
- CKA/CKAD, Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer.
