Data Governance Specialist is responsible for supporting the implementation and operation of the Bank's Data Governance Framework to ensure data quality, data integrity, regulatory compliance, and effective management of data assets. The role works closely with business units, data owners, IT teams, and risk/compliance functions to establish, monitor, and enhance data governance practices across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Data Governance Framework Implementation
- Implement and maintain the Bank's Data Governance policies, standards, and procedures.
- Support the rollout and adoption of data governance initiatives across business units.
- Assist in developing governance controls to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Promote data governance awareness and best practices throughout the Bank.
2. Data Quality Management
- Monitor and analyze data quality metrics, issues, and trends.
- Coordinate with data owners and business stakeholders to identify and remediate data quality issues.
- Support establishment of data quality rules, thresholds, and monitoring processes.
- Prepare periodic data quality reports and governance dashboards.
3. Data Metadata & Data Catalog Management
- Maintain enterprise data dictionary, business glossary, and metadata repository.
- Support data classification, data lineage, and data ownership mapping activities.
- Ensure data assets are properly documented and governed.
- Collaborate with business and technology teams to update metadata and data definitions.
4. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
- Support compliance with regulatory requirements related to data governance, data privacy, and information management.
- Participate in internal and external audit activities related to data governance.
- Assist in identifying and mitigating data-related risks.
- Ensure adherence to data retention, protection, and usage policies.
5. Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate with Data Owners, Data Stewards, IT teams, and Business Units on governance activities.
- Facilitate governance working groups and committee meetings.
- Provide consultation and guidance regarding data governance standards and processes.
- Track and follow up on governance action plans and remediation activities.
6. Governance Reporting
- Prepare governance performance reports and management presentations.
- Monitor governance KPIs, KRIs, and compliance indicators.
- Support management reviews and governance committee reporting.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Administration, Finance, Banking, or related fields.
- Relevant certifications are an advantage:
- DCAM (Data Management Capability Assessment Model)
- CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional)
- DAMA Certification
- Data Governance and Data Quality Certifications
Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in:
- Data Governance
- Data Management
- Data Quality Management
- Business/Data Analysis
- Banking Data Management
- Experience in banking, financial services, or fintech is preferred.
