Core Banking Project Manager is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and delivery of core banking system implementation, migration, upgrade, and optimization projects. This role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with business objectives, while coordinating cross-functional teams and managing stakeholder expectations.
Responsibilities:
Project Management
- Lead end-to-end delivery of core banking projects (implementation, migration, upgrade, integration).
- Define project scope, goals, timeline, and deliverables.
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation plans.
- Ensure adherence to project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with business units, IT teams, vendors, and senior leadership.
- Communicate project status, risks, and issues regularly to stakeholders.
- Facilitate workshops, meetings, and steering committees.
Core Banking System Expertise
- Oversee implementation of core banking solutions (e.g., Temenos T24, Finacle, Flexcube, etc.).
- Collaborate with vendors and technical teams to ensure proper system configuration and integration.
- Ensure compliance with banking regulations and operational requirements.
Risk & Issue Management
- Identify project risks early and develop mitigation strategies.
- Manage change requests, scope changes, and issue resolution.
- Ensure business continuity planning during system migration or cutover.
Budget & Resource Management
- Manage project budgets and ensure cost control.
- Allocate and optimize resources across project teams.
- Track financial performance and project ROI.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- Master's degree (MBA or equivalent) is a plus.
Experience
- At least 10 years of experience in project management within banking or financial services.
- Proven experience managing core banking system projects.
- Experience with system implementation or migration at a large scale.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of core banking platforms (e.g., Temenos, Finacle, Oracle Flexcube).
- Knowledge of banking operations (Retail, Corporate, Loans, Deposits, Payments).
- Familiarity with integration technologies, APIs, and digital banking platforms.
Certifications (Preferred)
- PMP / PRINCE2 / Agile certifications.
- ITIL or relevant banking certifications are a plus.
