What We're Looking For
We are seeking an experienced Senior Researcher to lead research and consultancy projects and mentor junior researchers, based at our office in Hanoi.
Key Responsibilities
Line manager: Institute Director
- Lead assigned research and consultancy projects from proposal development through to final delivery
- Develop proposals for assigned research and consultancy projects
- Process and analyze quantitative and/or qualitative data
- Supervise and guide junior researchers and research assistants in preparing project reports, research papers, and policy briefs
- Prepare and present findings to research groups, clients, and other stakeholders
- Represent MDRI in negotiations with partners and clients as needed
- Manage research project budgets, governance, and other resources
- Turn research findings into high-quality publications and disseminate results through appropriate channels
- Contribute to the development of MDRI's research strategy and new business proposals
- Line-manage, coach, and support junior colleagues, contributing to their professional development through mentorship and appraisal
- Undertake continuous personal and professional development in your subject area
- Other duties as assigned by the Institute Director
Who You Are
- PhD in Economics, Statistics, Social Sciences, or a related field (outstanding Master's degree holders with a strong publication record and relevant experience are also encouraged to apply)
- At least 5 years of experience conducting social/economic research
- Strong research track record evidenced by publications and roles in international research processes
- Expert knowledge of quantitative and/or qualitative research methodology
- Proven problem-solving, management, and leadership skills
- Excellent written and spoken communication in English and Vietnamese
- Fluency in statistical/data software (e.g., STATA, R)
- Strong capacity to work both independently and lead a research team
- Genuine motivation to build a career in economic research and to inspire junior researchers
