Job Summary:
As a Junior Tool Developer, you will work closely with the development team and artists to support enhance our VFX pipeline and workflows. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about VFX and interested in expanding their technical skills within a dynamic production environment.
Your role & responsibilities:
Collaborate with the team to develop and maintain tools and scripts to support the VFX pipeline and workflows.
Work closely with production team, artists, and supervisors to understand their needs and provide technical support.
Participate in testing and debugging tools and scripts to ensure stability and reliability.
Contribute to the documentation and maintenance of tools.
Educate and support artists in using the pipeline and its tools.
Ensure seamless integration of your tools with studio pipeline.
Your skills & qualifications:
Knowledge:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
Working knowledge of programming languages (Python, C++)
Knowledge of MEL (Maya) scripting
Basic shell scripting knowledge (Windows + Linux)
Basic MongoDB knowledge
Familiar with Linux
Experience:
Management experience: N/A
Professional experience:
Familiarity with Digital Content Creation packages (Maya, Nuke, Houdini, Unreal, etc.)
Experience using and/or writing extensions.
Experience with PyQt and/or PySide
Experience in UI development, preferably Qt (concepts + design).
Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
Experience developing using tools APIs.
Skills:
Good communication & coordination skills.
Ability to work well in a team and perform under tight deadlines.
Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with artists and supervisors.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong software development skills (algorithmic, scripting, debugging, etc.)
Arrange the work plan clearly and complete it well.
Understand and adapt someone else's code.
Learn new languages (mostly scripting) and APIs when required.
Good debugging skills.
Easily switch between multiple tasks.
