Laboratory Coordinator - Mechanical Engineering

THE OPPORTUNITY

The College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) is responsible for running a suite of courses at Undergraduate levels with active research agenda. In the first two years of the undergraduate courses, students will be actively participating in the laboratory sessions and the College will require a laboratory instructor to support the teaching activities.



KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

The successful candidate is expected to work closely with the Teaching Labs on all aspects of the management and maintaining the operation of the teaching labs used for undergraduate programs.

1. Assist the lead faculty in the preparation of teaching lab activities

• Instruct students using different equipment in mechanical lab such as Machine shop, Mechatronics lab, Automotive lab, Material lab

• Review drawings, diagrams or instructions to understand specifications and manual

• Take measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping

• Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job

• Select appropriate machines and position or load material for a job

• Determine and program size of batches and speed of machine

• Monitor output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects

• Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages

2. Supervise student teams/projects

• Supervise and evaluate student projects, labs, tests, and other assessments.

3. Grade assignments, lab practices, and projects

• Maintain records on student progress/grades.

4. Others

• Other tasks as reasonably requested by the courses' lead faculty and the CECS's leaders



COMPENSATION

The salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
