Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Lead Backend Engineer to join our team and drive the development of our core infrastructure. You will lead the design, architecture, and implementation of scalable, high-performance backend systems that underpin our AI-powered products. The ideal candidate is a technical leader with a proven track record of building complex systems, mentoring teams, and fostering innovation in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of mission-critical backend systems, APIs, and microservices architectures.
- Architect scalable, reliable, and secure solutions to support high-traffic applications and AI workloads.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and promote best practices in software engineering.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend engineers, AI/ML specialists, product managers, and executives, to define technical roadmaps and deliver high-impact features.
- Optimize systems for performance, cost-efficiency, and resilience, including handling large-scale data processing and integration with AI models.
- Implement and enforce security protocols, compliance standards, and best practices for data protection and system integrity.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues, lead incident response, and drive root-cause analysis and preventive measures.
- Participate in strategic planning, technology evaluations, and architectural decisions to evolve our backend ecosystem.
- Stay abreast of industry trends in backend technologies, cloud computing, and AI infrastructure, and champion improvements and innovations.
Your Skills and Experience
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of experience in backend development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior role.
- Expertise in multiple programming languages such as Go, Java, etc., with a focus on building enterprise-grade applications.
- Deep understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and database technologies (SQL, NoSQL, graph databases).
- Extensive experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, etc., including serverless architectures and managed services.
- Proficiency in version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible).
- Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS).
- Strong leadership skills, with experience in team management, mentoring, and fostering a collaborative culture.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities, strategic thinking, and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills (Optional):
- Expertise in message queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka, SQS) and caching systems (Redis, Memcached).
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, monitoring tools (Prometheus, ELK Stack, Grafana Stack), and automated testing frameworks.
- Familiarity with AI/ML integration, such as serving models via APIs or handling large datasets.
- Understanding of agile methodologies, software design patterns, and performance tuning in high-load environments.
