Lead Data Engineer Azure / AWS / GCP

1. Job Purpose:

• Leads the Data Engineering & Support function and owns the architecture and delivery quality of MB Life's data backbone (datamarts, pipelines and data platform, non-infrastructure), ensuring reliable and timely data for operations, reporting, analytics and AI.

2. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the Data Engineering & Support function: set priorities, allocate resources between projects and production support, and mentor and develop data engineers.
• Own the datamart, pipeline and data platform architecture, including data warehouse/lakehouse design, scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and integrations with core systems and partners.
• Oversee production support and intake management: ensure stable pipelines through monitoring, incident management and SLA tracking, and run a structured intake process for data requests.
• Set engineering standards and CI/CD practices for data, and review designs, code, builds and integrations before release with built-in data quality checks.
• Manage the data backbone (non-infra) for reliability, freshness and performance, and report delivery KPIs (on-time delivery, incidents, SLA, data quality) to the manager
  

Qualification and Experience

• Qualification: Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software/Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Experience: 10+ years in data engineering, including team leadership and data platform architecture; insurance, banking or financial services experience is an advantage.
• Certification: Cloud data certification (Azure / AWS / GCP, e.g. Azure Data Engineer Associate, AWS Data Engineer, Google Professional Data Engineer) is preferred.
• Language: Good English communication skills are required.
