Position Overview:
Maker Sixty Four is seeking a proactive Material & Sourcing Specialist to join our team. This role splits its focus between Material Control (20%) and Sourcing (80%): tracking material status to keep production on schedule, while building and developing a network of strategic suppliers to secure the best price, lead time and quality for the Company's current and upcoming projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Material Control (20%):
• Check the status of orders currently in production to keep track of overall progress.
• Receive weekly updates from Purchasers on the delivery status of materials.
• Update material status and coordinate with the Production Planning team to allocate materials in line with the production schedule.
• Flag material shortage/delay risks early and propose timely solutions.
2. Sourcing (80%):
• Build a supplier network by category, with special focus on materials related to upcoming projects.
• Evaluate suppliers to identify strategic suppliers.
• Propose strategic partnership plans to secure price, lead time and quality for key items.
• Source raw materials to meet customer requirements (wood, plywood, veneer, metal, accessories).
• Work with the
Designer, R&D, Tech and QA/QC teams to identify and source suitable materials during product development.
• Act as a team member in building product costing.
• Propose alternative materials to identify cost-saving opportunities for the Company.
• Perform other tasks assigned by the Supply Chain Manager.
• Bachelor's/College degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Import-Export, Wood/Furniture Technology or a related field.
• 1 - 4 years of experience in Procurement/Sourcing; experience in the furniture industry is an advantage.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to build relationships with suppliers.
• Strong analytical skills to evaluate suppliers and cost data.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills; able to manage multiple tasks/projects in parallel.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills (Planning, R&D, Designer, QA/QC).
• Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with good market awareness of raw material price trends.
• High sense of responsibility; able to work under multi-tasking pressure.
• Good English proficiency (reading technical documents, working with overseas suppliers) is an advantage.
• Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint; ERP experience is a plus.
