Job Summary The QC Engineer owns hands-on testing for assigned features on project - analyzing requirements, designing and executing test cases, reporting defects, and verifying fixes within each sprint. Coverage spans functional UI testing, manual API testing, data verification in the database, and basic non-functional checks.
Job Description
Test analysis and design
Review user stories, acceptance criteria, and specifications before development starts; identify ambiguities, missing scenarios, and requirements that cannot be tested as written, and raise them with the BA and Tech Lead.
Design test cases and checklists covering positive, negative, boundary, and edge scenarios, using recognized test design techniques rather than ad-hoc clicking.
Prepare test data, including querying and seeding the database with SQL where required.
Build and maintain regression suites for assigned modules, keeping them current as features change so they stay trustworthy.
Test execution
Execute functional, integration, regression, and smoke tests manually across the web application in every sprint.
Perform manual API testing with Postman or an equivalent tool: validate endpoints, request and response payloads, status codes, and error handling against the specification.
Verify data integrity directly in the database - confirm that what the interface displays matches what was written, and that integrations persist in data correctly
Run basic non-functional checks: cross-browser and responsive behavior, obvious performance degradation, basic security hygiene (authorization, input validation), and accessibility basics.
Defect management
Log clear, reproducible defects with precise steps, expected versus actual result, environment details, supporting evidence (screenshots, logs, API traces), and reasoned severity and priority.
Retest fixes and drives defects through to closure, confirming no regression has been introduced elsewhere.
Agile delivery collaboration
Provide test effort estimates for assigned stories and flag testing risks, dependencies, and environment blockers early.
Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
Give a clear quality signal ahead of each release: what was tested, what was not, what remains open, and what the residual risk is.
Support User Acceptance Testing: prepare scenarios and test data, assist the BA and client during the cycle, and reproduce and triage client-reported issues.
Reporting and documentation
Report test progress and results - execution status, pass/fail rates, defect counts and trends - in the agreed format and cadence.
Keep test documentation current and auditable: test cases, execution runs, results, and environment notes in test management tool.
Required Skills & Experience
2+ years of hands-on manual software testing experience on web applications.
Solid command of QA fundamentals: test design techniques (equivalence partitioning, boundary value analysis, decision tables), test levels and types, the defect lifecycle, and the distinction between severity and priority.
Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (Jira plus TestRail, Zephyr, Qase, or similar).
Comfort with browser devtools and application logs to separate front-end from back-end causes before filing a defect.
Working-level written and spoken English - able to write defect reports and test documentation a client will read, and to discuss issues directly with stakeholders.
Practical experience testing inside Agile/Scrum sprints rather than in a separate phase at the end of a project.
Able to write and read SQL (joins, aggregates, filtering) to verify results and prepare test data independently.
Manual API testing with Postman or equivalent; comfortable reading JSON and API documentation without hand-holding
Detail-oriented and constructively skeptical: able to reproduce intermittent issues and narrow a vague symptom down to a reliable set of steps.
Raises problems early and clearly and can hold a position on quality under delivery pressure.
Nice to have:
Exposure to test automation (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium). This is a manual role, but there is apath toward automation for anyone who wants it
Basic performance testing (JMeter, k6) or security testing awareness (OWASP Top 10).
