Job Title: Mold Design Engineer
Location: Hung Yen (Daily Bus from Hanoi/ Bac Ninh/ Hai Duong)
MOLEX, a brand under KOCH Industries with its headquarters in Lisle, Illinois (USA), is one of the world's leading interconnector manufacturers.
Since 2007, Molex Vietnam has operated its first factory in Thang Long I IP. We are now expanding with a new high tech facility in Thang Long II IP, Hung Yen, backed by a $145 million investment and spanning 100,000 m2. This site will manufacture advanced products including high-speed connectors, cables, and optical devices.
Position Summary
Responsible for the design, development, qualification, and continuous improvement of injection and over-mold tooling to support new product introductions and mass production. Ensures mold quality, manufacturability, productivity, and tooling durability through innovative design and engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Mold Design &
Development
Design injection and over-mold tooling for new products and tooling replacements.
Collaborate with Product Design, Global ME, and Project Teams on DFM, DFMEA, and moldability reviews.
Create mold concepts, 3D models, and 2D drawings, including gating, cooling, ejection, sliders, lifters, and inserts.
Conduct mold flow analysis and recommend design improvements.
Select appropriate mold materials and define molding parameters.
Apply advanced molding technologies such as hot runner, over-molding, and multi-shot molding.
Tool Build &
Qualification
Lead mold fabrication, assembly, trial runs, and debugging activities.
Work with Tooling, Process Engineering, and Production teams to qualify molds for mass production.
Support FAI, dimensional validation, and cycle time optimization.
Continuous Improvement
Improve tooling performance, productivity, quality, and mold life.
Support ECN implementation and mold modifications.
Resolve tooling-related issues and drive corrective actions.
Supplier Support
Review supplier mold designs and DFM reports.
Support external mold makers during tooling build and qualification.
Verify tooling specifications before production release.
Compliance &
Safety
Follow company requirements related to EHS, 6S, Kaizen, RBA, and asset protection.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in injection mold or over-mold design.
Experience designing molds for manufacturing and tooling fabrication.
Experience in electronics or connector manufacturing is preferred.
Key Skills
Proficient in NX or similar CAD software (2D/3D).
Strong knowledge of injection molding processes and mold manufacturing.
Familiar with mold flow analysis and engineering plastics (LCP, PBT, PA, ABS, PC).
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Good English communication skills
Japanese is a plus.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and a strong team player.
