Mô tả công việc

- Position Objective
School nurse will work within the scope of the Health Centre and school philosophy to ensure that the student's physical, psychological and emotional well-being is cared for.
- Responsibilities
School Nurse reports directly to the Health Centre Manager on daily basis, and performs a full range of duties, including but not limited to:
1. Provide Health & First Aid (H&FA) services within the school environment. Provide international standard nursing services to students, staff and 3rd parties through assessing and treating injuries and illness in a holistic manner.
2. Maintain standards of best practice in the delivery of H&FA. Develop & maintain skills and knowledge by participating in self- study, in house PD and external PD when funds allow. Work within the limits of your competence.
3. Maintain a minimum of BLS certification through a recognized body.
4. Maintain all H&FA areas as safe and functional. Ensure that the Health Centre is adequately stocked with equipment and medical items and all equipment is maintained in good working order. Carry out monthly checks on emergency first aid equipment within the school incl. restocking all first aid kits (clinic bags, duty bags and bus kits).
5. Assist and report on all health and safety issues. Including but not limited to illness trends, accidents, incidents and hazards as per school policy.,
6. Maintain a confidential environment for students and staff. Respect the right to confidentiality, but be prepared to disclose information if it is believed that the student/ staff may be at risk of harming themselves or others.
7. Promote effective communication and teamwork between all campus nurses. Cross covering other Cognita Vietnam health centers when necessary.
8. For every clinic visit (student, staff, 3rd party attendee) document clearly in the Health Module any assessment, treatment, medicines given and communication with parents/ caregivers. Ensure the records are detailed, dated and timed accurately. Ensure medical records remain confidential and report any data breach to Health Centre Manager/ IT Manager Vietnam.
9. Assess students with special health needs and be aware of those at risk of requiring emergency care. Prepare and maintain a list of students with chronic health conditions. Communicate with teaching staff when necessary about the health problems for students in their care, provide a care plan/ emergency plan when appropriate.
10. Refer to outside medical services as warranted.
11. Safely manage and administer medications in line with school policy.
12. Identify and refer 'Students at risk' to the Health Centre Manager and DSL or HOS when needed.
13. Provide a safe haven for troubled/anxious students; when appropriate make referrals to the school counselor for further assessment.
14. Provide first-line counseling
15. Act as a resource person/ liaison for all staff members, students and parents.
16. Assist and deliver health promotion and health education to staff, students or parents. Actively promote Healthy Lifestyle issues. Promote health by publishing information on the school web-site; speaking to classes or at faculty meetings; arranging for outside speakers to come into school.
17. Work as a health educator with students with chronic conditions, such as asthma and allergies.
18. Assist with student accountability by notifying teachers of students needing sick leave. Follow up with students who have consecutive absences for sickness and provide support where needed. Request medical reports/ fit to return to school notes where appropriate.
19. Ensure the Health Declaration is submitted annually for each student by parents/guardians.
20. Evaluate whether a student has a valid reason to be excused from PE.
21. Participate in discussion, recommendation and the writing of policies.
22. Provide health information and appropriate equipment when necessary for staff taking students on field trips.
23. Support the school community with medical cover for any events that take place on campus, this maybe in the evenings, weekends or during school holidays (school camp).
The job holder's responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young person's for whom s/he is responsible, or with whom s/he comes into contact will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with the relevant Cognita Safeguarding; Child Protection Policy and Procedures at all times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the role, the job holder identifies any instance that a child is suffering or likely to suffer significant harm either at school or at home, s/he must report any concerns to the School's Child Protection Officer/Designated Safeguarding Lead or to the Head of indeed to the Regional CEP so that a referral can be made accordingly to the relevant third part services.

- Position Requirements
● Must be fluent in English. A second language such as Vietnamese is preferred but not essential.
- Qualifications
+ Essential
● Bachelor degree or recognized equivalent in nursing, medicine or similar field.
● Nursing or medical license current in home country.
● Current BLS certification or willingness to work towards one.
+ Preferred
● Further training in children's nursing, emergency nursing or teacher training are valuable.
Post-registration courses to gain further expertise and competency may include: first aid at work/school, travel health, anaphylaxis, asthma, and health and safety.

Quyền lợi

● The School Nurse must work [protected info]pm Monday - Friday and [protected info] Saturday morning. If the clinic is left unattended, a note must be left on the door with mobile phone number and whereabouts.
● The school nurse is entitled to school holidays as determined by the school calendar. With this provision, the nurse will be expected to work flexible hours within term time to cover school events in the evenings or weekends as required with no added monetary benefit. The school nurse will also be called upon to cover a maximum of 3 weeks of school camp at either winter or summer break. This will be across the campus for Cognita Vietnam.
- Terms of Employment
Cognita Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff, volunteers and other third parties to share this commitment. Safer recruitment practice and pre-employment background checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed. Appointment is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check for regulated activity (if the candidate has lived in the UK) and/or criminal/police or equivalent background checks for all other countries inhabited (irrespective of whether you worked in those countries).

● Probation Period: 2 months

● Background check: Required
