A leading regional venture capital firm is looking for a Principal to join their expanding team.
Description
* Deal Sourcing:
* Identify and research new investment opportunities by meeting with founders, attending industry events, and leveraging networks.
* Build relationships with entrepreneurs, investors, and other stakeholders to stay informed about industry trends and potential investments.
* Investment Analysis & Due Diligence:
* Conduct detailed financial analysis, market research, and competitive landscape assessments to evaluate investment opportunities.
* Assist in due diligence processes, including financial modeling, risk assessment, customer and reference checks, and industry analysis.
* Prepare investment memos and presentations for the internal investment committee.
* Portfolio Management:
* Support portfolio companies post-investment by providing strategic advice, assisting with fundraising, and identifying growth opportunities.
* Monitor performance of portfolio companies, including tracking key financial and operational metrics.
* Foster strong relationships with portfolio company founders and management teams.
* Market Research & Thought Leadership:
* Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscapes.
* Produce thought leadership pieces, such as market analysis reports or blog posts, to enhance the firm's visibility and expertise in the industry.
Profile
* 3-5 years of experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, consulting, or a relevant role in a high-growth startup environment
* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering, or related fields. MBA or advanced degree is a plus
* Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modeling, valuation techniques, and quantitative analysis
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing investment memos and presenting to partners
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines
* Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
* Genuine interest in startups, venture capital, and innovation-driven industries
* Strong curiosity and willingness to dive deep into new markets and technologies
