R&D Director

Job Overview
oversees the Development, Improvement, and Market Support, R&D Laboratory Maintenance, and Technical Administration.
Responsibilities and Duties
1. Development, Improvement, and Market
• Coordination of Development Projects
• R&D Support to Technical Sales
• Transparent documentation of R&D Projects via Project Chart, Laboratory Test Report, SQL Entry of Formulation, Customer Trial Report and Result Remark on Project Chart
• Meeting deadlines of product development projects, reporting frequently the status to sales
• Attend first production runs at Techno as well as the customer's Line
• Formulation adaptation to production process in collaboration with R&D/QC
• Assurance of inventory list of raw material and finished good samples used by R&D in the laboratory
• Ensure proper administration of storage locations for wet and dry master sample
• Communicate with relevant department for sample requisition, quotation of raw materials.
• Hands on support to QC department - update & control QC spec for raw material and finished goods.
• Hands on support in marketing in technical issues whenever needed.
2. R&D Laboratory Maintenance
• Assurance of cleanness, tidiness and maintenance of the Lab and equipment
• Seeking Benchmarking, Seminars, Trade Shows, etc.., in order to ensure appropriate and state-of-the-art Technology in our Laboratory
3. Technical Administration
• Assurance of Interface to MIS:
- Provide formulations on "Data Sheet Recipe Data"
- Provide RM information on "Data Sheet Raw Material Data"
• Assurance of Inventory List of Raw Material and Finished Good Samples used by R&D in the Laboratory
• Assurance of appropriate Number and Quantities of Raw Material Samples for R&D
• MSDS and TDS: Provide all required data to the MSDS responsible for proper conduct and filing of the MSDS and MTDS
4. General
• Optimise, comply with & maintain processes/procedures in compliance with ISO 9001:2015
• Monitor and align the professional development and compensation of subordinates in collaboration with the Operations Director
• Conduct regular progress review meetings with subordinates
• Motivate and coach subordinates. Encourage a learning culture in Techno
• Ensure good internal control to safeguard the company's assets
• Familiarise and fully understand Techno's products and coating technologies
• Visit relevant local trade shows to gather information for technical knowledge
5. Work Ethics
• To demonstrate support and a positive attitude towards all colleagues & departments; avoid barriers from building up
• To contribute to the principal guidelines of the company's mission, vision and core values in all daily activities
