Sales Director (Knit Garment - EU/USA market)
Lead
business development activities in the US and European markets, with a strong focus on
directly approaching new end buyers, building relationships with major brands and retailers, and converting these relationships into actual orders, revenue, and profitability for the Company's knit garment business.
This is primarily a sales hunting and market development role, rather than one focused solely on managing existing accounts, merchandising, or order execution.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Develop and execute business strategies to expand the company's knit garment business in the US and European markets, with a strong focus on acquiring new end buyers and securing profitable orders.
- Proactively identify, approach, and build direct relationships with decision-makers at international brands, retailers, and sourcing offices, without relying primarily on agents or intermediaries.
- Leverage an established buyer network to generate new business opportunities and convert relationships into actual orders, revenue, volume, and profitability.
- Manage the full business development cycle, including buyer engagement, company and product presentations, sample development, costing, quotation, price negotiation, commercial terms, and order confirmation.
- Set and deliver sales, order intake, revenue, and profitability targets by market, customer group, and product category.
- Maintain and grow strategic accounts by identifying new customer needs, product opportunities, and potential for additional business.
- Monitor market trends, buyer sourcing strategies, customer needs, competitor activities, and product developments in the US and European knit garment markets.
- Collaborate closely with Merchandising, Product Development, Production, Planning, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to ensure competitive costing, product quality, on-time delivery, and customer satisfaction.
- Apply knowledge of vertically integrated textile and garment production-including spinning, weaving, knitting, dyeing, finishing, and sewing-to propose competitive solutions to buyers.
- Lead, coach, and develop the Sales and Merchandising teams; establish KPIs, manage performance, prepare sales forecasts and business reports, and represent the company in buyer meetings, trade fairs, and international business activities.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven experience in business development and sales management within the textile and garment industry, preferably in knit garments for the US and/or European markets.
- Demonstrated success in directly approaching end buyers, developing new accounts, and securing orders without depending primarily on intermediaries.
- An established and active network with decision-makers at major international brands, retailers, sourcing offices, or end buyers.
- Ability to demonstrate measurable achievements in new buyer acquisition, order value, revenue, sales growth, volume, and profitability.
- Strong commercial capabilities in sales strategy, costing, quotation, price negotiation, commercial terms, revenue growth, and profitability management.
- Good knowledge of knit garment categories such as T-shirts, polo shirts, knit tops, sportswear, and activewear.
- Solid understanding of buyer requirements, product development, order management, and textile and garment production. Experience with vertically integrated manufacturing is highly preferred.
- A merchandising background is preferred, combined with substantial experience in direct sales and business development.
- Strong sales-hunter mindset with the resilience, persistence, and commercial drive to perform under market pressure, demanding sales targets, price competition, buyer expectations, and internal operational challenges.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to set targets, manage performance, and develop Sales and Merchandising teams.
- Highly fluent English, with excellent presentation, communication, and commercial negotiation skills. English proficiency will be assessed during the selection process.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, International Business, Marketing, Textile and Garment Technology, or a related field.
- Willingness to travel and relocate is required. The position is open to candidates of all nationalities, including but not limited to those from Vietnam, South Korea, Hong Kong, the United States, and European countries.
