A successful factory visit should lead to a solution not just a quotation.
Alternō is looking for a Sales Engineer who can bridge the gap between customers and our technical team: someone who listens for the real problem, asks for the right data, and works with the team to turn a factory's needs into a practical clean heat solution.
You will work with manufacturers, multinational companies, technology partners, and on-site operations teams. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with both people and technology someone who can explore a factory's production process in depth, then translate what they learn into clear briefs, proposals, and actionable next steps for our engineers.
About Alternō
Alternō is a climate tech company developing sand-based thermal energy storage systems that convert renewable electricity into clean heat for industry and agriculture.
Our long-term ambition is to help prevent 100 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually by 2030 by enabling factories to reduce their dependence on coal, oil, and gas in a commercially viable way.
Alternō has worked with Fortune 500 companies, manufacturers, and agricultural businesses across Asia. According to our 2025 impact profile, our pilot projects have reduced fossil fuel consumption by up to 30%, avoided 103 tonnes of CO2 emissions, and trained more than 100 technicians and local workers.

Your Role
You will help customers understand Alternō and help Alternō understand exactly what customers need.
1. Discover what customers truly need
Shadow and assist our Sales and Engineering teams during customer meetings.
Visit factories to understand their production processes, heat requirements, existing energy systems, operational constraints, and decision-making criteria.
Ask the right questions to distinguish actual needs from initial assumptions and identify missing information.
Capture technical requirements as well as commercial, operational, and risk-management considerations.
2. Be a trusted bridge between customers and engineers
Translate customer needs into clear, structured, and actionable client briefs.
Work closely with the engineering team to clarify input data, technical limitations, possible solutions, and items requiring further validation.
Explain technical concepts in language suited to different decision-makers, including operations, engineering, finance, and factory leadership.
Never promise beyond what the technology can deliver or turn an assumption into a commitment.
3. Build high-quality proposals
Support the preparation of proposals, technical documents, presentations, meeting notes, and customer responses.
Assist in preparing proposals, technical documents, and meeting notes, ensuring high attention to detail.
Follow up on open questions after meetings and coordinate handovers so that important information is not lost.
Contribute to the team's library of discovery questions, field lessons, and
technical sales materials.
4. Support projects when needed
Support customers during site surveys, pilot tests, installation, commissioning, acceptance, and on-site troubleshooting.
Be willing to travel based on project requirements.
When a project requires after-hours or on-site support, step in with a strong sense of responsibility while working with the team to ensure a reasonable recovery plan afterward.
Are a recent graduate (or have under 1 year of experience) in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related technical field.
Communicate well with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Can take clear notes, synthesize information, and produce well-structured documents.
Pay close attention to data, assumptions, customer requirements, and operational details.
Are genuinely curious about how factories operate.
Are willing to travel, work on-site, and learn quickly.
Take ownership, collaborate well, and are willing to step beyond a traditional job description when a project needs support.
Care about clean energy, industry, or sustainable development.
Have a strong passion for combining technical knowledge with commercial/sales activities (You don't need to be an expert in sales yet, but you must be eager to learn).
Alternō builds hard technology, but we do not treat burnout as a badge of honor.
Our wellbeing activities include thoughtfully prepared meals, yoga, meditation, badminton, and swimming giving the team opportunities to recharge and connect beyond work.
We believe in sustainable performance: working with purpose, communicating candidly but kindly, and supporting one another through demanding periods.
